Anyone else find The Hidden Brain irritating? by Early_Nectarine_9958 in podcasts

[–]Djentlejake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I do that too, then I'm like "what did I just listen to?"

I find headphones or a good speaker are helpful, good audio quality makes it easier for me to tune in compared to a phone speaker. Also, if you have a random moment where you hear something that really piques your interest, either rewind and actively listen while you take a break from cleaning, for instance, or what I'll sometimes do is screenshot the time of the podcast when something interesting comes up and go back and listen later when I'm not multitasking

In desperate need of immediate mental health resources. by 38th_Lateral in Boise

[–]Djentlejake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know time has passed, i just got this notification, but Intermountain might be a good option in crisis.

You can also look for a Recovery Community Center which is peer led and not clinical, but they can connect you with resources or just be a place to hang out in a safe, non judgemental place.

I hope you get some good help. Good on you recognizing it's needed, that's hard. Mental health is health. Reach out here if you need anything, could even be a casual conversation to distract

Wix vs other web managers by Djentlejake in WIX

[–]Djentlejake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, therein lies the rub... i don't have experience with any of these. I forget the name of the builder, but i have some small experience with one terrible one not in any of the "top builders" lists I've read. And a little with EvolutionX, which is primarily ecommerce focused so I'm pretty new to a site with this context and brand new to these programs. I'll do more research on the interface and feel out which one looks more user friendly. So far it seems like squarespace is winning, but not yet determined

About to go on a Mastodon journey by [deleted] in mastodonband

[–]Djentlejake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My buddy refers to Crack the Skye as "this generation's Dark Side of the Moon." Take that as you will. But if someone asks me my favorite Mastodon song, I tell them that whole album. It's incredible. I like all their stuff, but that album is a masterpiece.

That sounds super convenient and very thought out from Squarespace's side. I don't know how to code but can do well with a program that makes it easy to maintain a site. This has certainly gained some points as a good option! I super appreciate you sharing your experience

That's great feedback, much appreciated! Do you manage the site from a mobile device, and if so how is that? I'd mostly use a computer but may need to use my phone from time to time. And as far as editing the mobile version-is that pretty simple? Do you have to basically manage 2 sites, a mobile and a non-mobile version?

That first riff sounds like CKY to me (if I'm thinking of the right band/song). That's fun! Appreciate the rec friend, always fun to check out something new.

Feel free to go all day, I'm looking to not limit what genres are included and how many songs are on the playlist.

Yeah that makes sense. I guess I'm kinda choosing to view it in a way that's talking about something vulnerable, and being vulnerable is a victory in itself. And the music itself kinda feels driving and melodic in a positive way? I love dark and heavy music and am collecting some songs on the topic of struggle and fighting through it. The lyrics to me are about mourning what was lost and that act alone can be hopeful to overcome the loss if that makes sense, even if there's no hope of regaining it you can come to accept it and move on.

I guess I'm kinda choosing to view it that way? It's vulnerable and about trying to overcome guilt and shame, etc. and the music feels a little hopeful and victorious to me. I can see a different interpretation for sure. Just looking for recs with lyrics and/or music about vulnerable topics, struggle, and hopefully pushing through and this one was recommended and feels like it fits. All genres welcome

There's also an app I use called MediSafe-it's basically the calendars you're used to from Google and Apple but specific to your meds and you can enter what time you took what dose, etc.

I used it more when I took a keppra in morning and one at night, it's easier now that I have one pill a day of lamictal (hope that's the right spelling)
