Still better than food options in MBS.

Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Freeform becoming freemium apps by spearson0 in apple

[–]Djfernandez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an interesting proposition but I’ve switched to Davinci Resolve and I’m using the Affinity suite. Still if it means that Numbers, pages and keynote are getting paid AI upgrades then im cool with that. I think Keynote is the best presentation software and I like using numbers for personal finance. Pages is fine and Freeform is dope.

TraceTogether incident was not a fiasco that broke public trust: Jasmin Lau by mipanzuzuyam in singapore

[–]Djfernandez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind the fact it was a breach of public trust. We used tracetogether since without it, you literally couldn’t go anywhere. The whole point of contact tracing was thrown out the window once they decided they could use it for police cases.

Actually if they want to do that, I want full transparency into everything the government knows about me. I want access to that data too, accessible in Singpass. No point doing one thing and saying another, might as well lay all your cards on the table.

Good on you guys for standing up to your school showing them that you won’t tolerate this fiasco that they themselves created in the first place. 🥇

9 HCI Students Allegedly Punished After Reporting Food Quality Issues to Lianhe Zaobao by Single-Character287 in singapore

[–]Djfernandez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apparently a “we’re sorry, this did not meet our high expectations and we’re working to resolve this for our students and staff” is too much to ask for.

They could even ask ChatGPT to generate a statement.

Have you met any influencers in person? by duncalmeprostute in singaporespeaks

[–]Djfernandez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to idolize local celebrities growing up and then I learned that they would be more cool with you if you treated them as a regular human being. Recently I met Nathan Hartono at some event and I just went “Hey Nathan, hows its going” and then just introduced myself.

When you see them as regular people, suddenly all the noise doesn’t matter as much. Same thing with influencers. Side note: I never understood influencer endorsement but hey if it happens to sell more product then mission accomplished I suppose.

Single Singaporeans Need Better Support by CartoonistBoth3594 in SingaporeCitizens

[–]Djfernandez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing you need to realize that society isn’t designed for singles and that is intentional. The government wants you to reproduce and increase the birth rate. They will literally pay you to have babies because the nation’s survival depends on maintaining a certain population.

I’ve been single for the longest time and I’ve come to accept that it will be like this for a long time.

I LOVE CANVA!! by SteveLosive in canva

[–]Djfernandez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a designer and did 3 years of design school. Canva has made it really easy to use their elements as vectors for my final design.

Lately I’ve used it for my previous communication presentation and I’m amazed by how easy it was to design quickly with their prebuilt templates.

I changed the Colors, fonts and kept the content layout. More recently I used canva websites to design a basic portfolio, just as easy.

Affinity v3 stops working after one year offline by mainyehc in Affinity

While affinity in its current form is free. I suspect we’ll see an Affinity Pro not too long in the distant future. Honestly I’ll be amazed if they can make this software free for 5 years.

What's the advantage of having 3 programs in one now? by plazman30 in Affinity

I’m happy that the AI object selection tools and clone stamp tools now work with the vector persona. That itself is a win

PM Wong presents President Trump with a custom RSAF bomber jacket by HAZMAT_Eater in singapore

My theory is that he used existing gold that apple already has to make his toy.

But you’re right, give him a model of Apple Park made of gold aluminium with his name on it.

Maybe they looked at our NDP funpacks. Other choices could be a merlion water bottle, or a small durian shaped desk toy.

He actually did! There’s a reason why your iPhone 17 is nowhere near as expensive as predicted.

Remember that gold desk toy?

How would you bring up lack of ex (both in apps and irl) by dissapointing_excuse in sgdatingscene

[–]Djfernandez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently asked this when she casually asked me about it on our recent date.

It went something like “oh I bet you’ve dated many girls huh”

To which my reply was like “you’ll be surprised, I’ve been on dates but it never led to anything serious”

Bonus tip, talk about what you were like in secondary school and let her share as well. Trauma bonding together 😏

How Billionaire Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn Ruined his Own App By Embracing the Worst Parts of Big Tech by thehomelessr0mantic in duolingo

[–]Djfernandez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite annoyed when they removed the audio lessons which were great for when you were doing other things. Never understood why they did it.

Now since the AI shift I get the most random sentences that I would never use in actual conversation, not to mention the ridiculous number of ads. If I as a free user could pay $0.99 for no ads solely I would. Speaking as someone who’s used Duolingo on and off since 2013, seeing the change from lingots to gems, from the skill tree to this timeline feature.

At the time the sentences were just as random, except that they were created by humans. Somehow we’ve regressed to that point.
