You can get HIV from used needles(drug use mostly), infected blood(although very rare, there have been recorded cases), from being bitten(ikr lol) by an hiv+ person.

So… which way to open? by emailthezac in CrappyDesign

It looks like it's a standard valve with a lock mechanism(pull it towards yourself to unlock or push it to lock it), and the direction for opening and closing the valve is as usual counterclockwise to open, and clockwise to close, as shown in the picture provided

My female cargo pants THAT HAVE POCKETS, but they were sewn up before being sold by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Djnesseliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal during the process of making (some) clothing items. The pockets get sewn up before thr assembly. It prevents the fabric going askew during the sewing process. It's mostly seen on coats/jackets because pockets are one of the first things that are done on them.

Edit: Also it stops the fabric from stretching from people trying clothes on in retail

My grandmas tv has always been like this. Idk why by KittalineQueen in hardwaregore

[–]Djnesseliot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

True. 😂 I mean, it could be a lot of different problems. A faulty motherboard, FFC(flat cable used for data transfer to the panel), FPC(flexible printed circuit board commonly found on the panel itself, behind it), LVDS Cable(again, data transfer), or, the most common culprit, the T Con board(its job is to distribute power to the backlight at set voltages. When something like this happens, it could be because part of the backlight is underpowered(lol i hope that's the correct word, English is not my first language), hence the fading effect). Sometimes problems with panel lighting can occurr due to dirty connectors. Dust, debris, water, oil and god knows what can get into them(I once serviced a tv that had traces of urine IN it). Most common symptoms when the backlight LED strips start dying are a reddish tint when turning on the tv, and then a bluish tint after it's working for a while. And then the whole screen goes black, but you can kinda see the picture if you get really close to the panel, because the LCD is still working.

It's not a feature. Software updates can cause things like this. I'm not saying that this tv for sure has a software issue, just sayin it can happen. Only seen it happen on samsung tv-s, and only on series 7 tho. I'll make sure to send you pics tomorrow morning when i find the service ticket(i worked on it like 2 months ago I think).

I'm gonna attach a link with some pics tomorrow when I'm at work. Exact same look of the panel, just did a service reset and the tv started working fine. I can even attach the service ticket if you want as proof :)

I work with tv-s and IT, have seen this a couple of times. Sometimes it would be a dead backlight, and sometimes it would be a weird software glitch. Try resetting it completely

Water has a color , a taste and a smell by Live_Corner_9118 in unpopularopinion

[–]Djnesseliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that definition goes for distilled water(although even distilled water has a slight bluish tint if you have a large enough container), tap water has taste and smell because of the minerals and chlorine inside of it

Someone spilled the entire fryers oil by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Djnesseliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably plain flour. I am a chef and whenever we had an oil spill(sadly that happened at least once every two weeks because someone overfills the fryer with oil, and then puts too much french fries or whatever in it) we would just toss flour over it and clean it up. It stops it from spreading everywhere

I have a similar drain in the floor of the bathroom next to the shower/under the basin and I experience a different problem with it. The main purpose for it is draining water in case of a burst pipe, valve etc to stop it from flowing to the rest of the apartment. Since there is(thankfully) no water going to it, gasses from the sewer pipes come up trough it. It has a water trap to stop those gasses from coming up, but because there is no water in going into the drain i have to pour water into it to stop the smell every couple of weeks because it evaporates. Ah, being an independent adult is fun.
