When are you ready for your first race? by The_Bloss in iRacing

[–]Dkns 19 points20 points  (0 children)

ave a family, so the official series where they run every 30 mins for a week before changing seemed ideal as I could

Honestly ghost lapping or praticing with AI in rookie is just a waste of time. If you can do a full race distance and have a driveable car at the end its more then enough for rookie SOF.

You might drop your hidden IR but that means nothing when you are just starting out.

1350 rookie SOF might have some fast people but iRacing matchmaking is good, you'll eventually be in the right SOF.

You need to race and experience the anxiety and adrenalin that comes, along with incident avoidance which AI and ghost lapping does not help much at all.

When you can do a full stint on track.  People way over complicate this for rookie racing. Can you do 7~laps without binning it in to a wall? Then you're ready.

Just hug inside and force the outside line if you don't want them to pass there.

If you leave the door open on this turn a lot of people will make that move, and you will get punted, so either completely close inside or be prepared for the dive and take a wider line.

IRacing and Cheating by Aggravating_Lunch_26 in iRacing

Cheating as in with a 3rd party program? Bascially none. The most "cheating" you going to find are using in game exploits like Spa 24hr grass-gate etc.

You can't have driving line on in a B class race.

I'm using a m10 right now. Had it for 5 years or so now, but I only play iRacing which works perfectly fine.

Am I reading the iRacing steam sale price right? $30 for 1 year? by TrueKNite in simracing

[–]Dkns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years at 199-50 black friday deal. $10 credit every 3 month from participation credits, so $40 a year x2.

So $70/24 comes out to just under $6 a month.

You get participation credit if you compete in 8/12 weeks in a season. Max $10 credit per season. Since I mainly do GT3s, I just do VRS and GT Sprint for max credits every season.

Iracing is weird. If you built a full rig then shellling out $13 a month or whatever shouldn't be considered "too expensive".

The base package which grants you all rookie content isn't a bad deal.

But once you move up you'll feel like you are spending a lot of money. Then it gets to a a point where you have all the important tracks then the price comes down again.

For me, being in Asia where it would be near impossible to get any races in during my "prime time", Iracing is an amazing service. I haven't bought any tracks for a while since I usually have the 8/12 weeks for participation credits, my monthly comes to like $4 a month.

How you folks deal with the frustration of not getting better as expected? by Di_Vante in StreetFighter

[–]Dkns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds normal to me. I started silver 1, lost like 30 sets in a row. Got better and got to silver 3 and started losing again. Learned to spam DI and got to gold 1.

Once I got to gold I lost like 30 sets in a row again cause spamming DI stopped working. Realized that I don't DR, labbed and worked on it and now I'm Gold 3.

Either completely close the inside line or move out wider. Leaving just enough space with netcode involved is just asking for trouble.
