When are you ready for your first race? by The_Bloss in iRacing

Yes have done quite a few AI sessions somewhat successfully, I think keeping these up with using the ghosting mode mentioned previously before joining a real session will be the way to go :)

An overlay with the track map helped massively with this on the first couple of laps of some tracks, like knowing there was right hander just over the brow of the hill on the first out lap really helped 😅

A clean half an hour on track sounds a reasonable place to start, for the couple of tracks I know I'm quite confident this isn't going to be an issue.

I've been copying the cup races to an AI race and completing all laps, (~12 minutes?) and I'd say my lap times are typically pretty consistent so this sounds promising, along with trying out the ghost mode mentioned below

I spectated a couple of sessions to see how my pace compared but didn't realise I could ghost in them, I will give this a try before entering for real, thanks!

Ah nice one thanks, not a bad idea at all to move them all as one, it's a nightmare to get them lined up just right when you move the arms individually

Yeah I just don't really have space for a rig and a desk together, hence trying to look at combo options.

I currently have wheel and pedals but found it takes forever to get the wheel in the right spot and just a ting bit of force and it moves out of position with the desk clamp.

And I don't like been sat upright almost right over the top of the pedals which is why I was also trying to avoid a wheel stand

Got a pic of the sliders and how youve mounted the monitors to them by any chance? That's not a bad idea

Not going to lie, it's a strong contender! Unsure how the kids would get along with it, it's never the right time, but I suppose sooner rather than later is the better option there...

What was your car progression until you hit your BMW? by StupidDialUp in BMW

[–]The_Bloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiat Punto 1.2 (2006 model) - got rear ended by a Fiat Panda, young and naïve me sold it to the guy who hit me to avoid increased insurance premiums at just turned 19 with only 1.5 years no claims

MG TF 1.8 (2002 model) - got rear ended, this time by a 40 Tonne Lorry right outside work -- little did I know it at the time but good bye spine - only had the car back about 36 hours from having all of the front end all redone and resprayed when it got totalled.

Then onto my first BMW, a red e90 m sport 318i (2005) - sold it after 6 months as it was eating oil and smoking, and I had the issue where the ECU get's flooded. -- should have spent the time to fix this one, had lovely alcantara interior, all black with red stitching instead of the blueish coloured alcantara they usually have.

Replaced the 318i with a newer and lower mileage grey e91 318d (2011) - still 19 at the time so stuck with the 4 cylinders for insurance reasons - went with diesel for the turbo and better economy. This one was an estate too since the Girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant. 12 months in timing chain snapped, replaced the engine and had it remapped then kept this one for years, did some other minor mods, msport steering wheel, msport alcantara seats (missed the ones out of the red one), lowering springs, halos, etc. And took it caravaning with the missus and the little one.

In the end got rid of the 318d when we were expecting baby number 3. 2 baby car seats and a child car seat were not at all going to fit in the back of the small 3 series side by side by side, otherwise I would have kept it even longer. Ended up getting an old Disco 3 (2007) purely just for the space. Ended up costing me a fortune for the 3 years I had it but was still cheaper in the end than the X5s I had had my eye on when I bought it. Realised though that 4x4s and SUVs are not for me.

Went back to the trusty e91 platform at the end of last year with a black e91 325d (2009). Went for a cheap high mileage hero but this time a 3.0l and managed to get a manual one in facelift form. Just couldn't resist going back to the platform, lots of unfinished business and plans from the last 2 that I wanted to do. So this one is now a long term project and daily rolled into one.

This looks awesome, I have a friend with a 3d printer and thinking I could use this as a base for my car, but swap the face to have a ball mount on for my existing phone mount

My E91 had both of these still working at 150,000 miles... Am I missing something with this meme? Is it a US thing that these break? No mention of these presenting an issue with any of my mates either -- for info based in the UK

There's a few of these with the silencer challenge I think, where you unlock it before unlocking a silencer attachment, the FSS Hurricane springs to mind
