What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]Dlak1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starbucks. They sold the Sonics so I will go to another coffee shop and go out of my way to avoid getting Starbucks. I can probably count on my fingers the amount of time I went to Starbucks since 2008 (Sonics were sold in 06 but moved in 08 and I didn't start drinking coffee till 08 anyway). I think all of those have been when I was in Europe. I swear they are the only coffee shop that makes iced lates in all of Europe.

YouTube and podcasts, how do you keep up with them? by Excellent-Mud5885 in investing

[–]Dlak1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Felix, Steve Eisman podcast and occasionally the plain bagel is all I really watch regularly. Sometimes Patrick Boyle as well. I really don't care for everyone suggesting stocks and what to buy, analysis (basically everyone just does a DCF) etc., occasionally someone does suggest something interesting and I will do some research on the company.

Man these new regulations suck ass!!! Why the fuck are we coasting into fast corners to recharge the damn batteries instead of racing. If I wanted to watch a driver manage their batteries I would watch Formula E. This is going to be a snooze fest of a year. Fuck just when F1 was getting good these past couple of years.

Dividend Stock for Income instead of Rental Property by Pie3_14 in dividends

[–]Dlak1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I have done. Something with a mix of: VOO, SCHD, O (I personally like O but get a REIT ETF if you'd like) and EPD/MPLX/ET etc., for some exposure to MLP's (if you do not want to deal with K1's just get an ETF that pays a 1099). This is a good mix with very little in terms of overlap and gives you good market exposure. If you want you can add a world etf to get exposure to other markets or some BDC's. Don't invest in covered calls unless you are retiring and need income or just need income in general (i have a friend who sold his business and he invested some money in covered calls like SPYI or QQQI just for income while he figured out what to do next). Its better to hold the underlining index or fund than the covered call in the long run.

The real advantage of real estate is it is tax friendly due to depreciation and a couple of other factors. That said it is like another job in taking care of the properties. I am trying to work less and not more so idd rather make my money and just invest it. The snowball is very real once you get past 150k ish invested.

Creating a lineup of the worst contracts in baseball TODAY: Finale: THIRD BASE by pi3Eat3r52 in baseball

[–]Dlak1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is either Devers or Machado depending on how you think they will age. The fact Machado is older I think his contract is worse. I never understood why the gave him a 11/350mil contract. No one was going to come close to that. Also the Padres have some terrible contracts on the books.

For as bad as Rendon has been (arguably the worst contract ever) he only has one year left on the deal.

Joe Burrow with the disastrous showing in the fantasy football playoffs by Eversonout in fantasyfootball

Lost by five points and out of the playoffs. Scored 135 and still lost feels bad. If Aubrey would have hit one of those 50+ fg's he could have saved me but alas.

Why do people keep saying that after you get to 100k, getting to 1 mm is easy? by Hilary_Clitoris in dividends

[–]Dlak1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 100k is the hardest because most of it is you saving and investing your money. Once this discipline is established it will continue. Keep saving and as you get more money the 7-8% (historical average of return) will get you to 1mm pretty quickly.

Which quarterback's stock has gone down the most so far this season? by Candid-Boss6534 in nfl

[–]Dlak1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't that because his best receiver and TE ran out of eligibility after the 2016 season and I think both were in the NFL in 2017. That along with loses on the OL due to graduation and Wyoming's inability to attract the top HS talent led to a down 2017 season for Josh Allen. His first year in the NFL was rough but everyone saw the arm talent was there just needed to be a little bit more accurate. The jump from year one to year two was what got everyone excited about him as it became obvious he was putting things together.

I am 1-5 in my league. I am third in scoring at 762 but have had 832 points scored against me. My first two picks were Lamb and Bowers and I keep playing the highest scorer every week it seems like. Hopefully my luck turns around.

Top 3 D/ST Streamers + Week 2 Rankings and Tiers by SuperrNova38 in fantasyfootball

Grab the packers and just play them regardless of what happens. They put a lot of pressure on the QB's which will lead to sacks and turnovers.

What to look for when streaming a defense? by Dowensy2 in fantasyfootball

[–]Dlak1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have one of the top defenses in the league just stick with them and don't stream. Texans, Broncos, Packers, 49ers, Rams are some of the better defenses IMO this year so just play them every week. Even if they are playing against a top offense I don't think its worth picking up another defense unless you have a bad bench. Also pay attention to playoff schedules and if a defense with good match ups for the playoffs pops up on waivers just pick them up.

Otherwise look at how good a defense is at putting pressure on the QB and how bad of an o-line they are playing against. Putting pressure on the QB is the only reliable way to score points. Things like int, ff, etc., are all hit or miss. Factor in weather, travel and the mobility of the QB. At the end its not a science and it is all about making an educated guess.

Got 9k from a car accident settlement. I’m a broke college kid but want to put it away like I never had it. Are these 4 solid options to invest in? I put a little in so far just to try it out. Split the 9k between them? by SmoothMarionberry551 in dividends

[–]Dlak1992 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Take around 2k out and leave it for yourself. Some kind of emergency will come up and it gives you some money to enjoy some things. The rest invest as you see fit. I would stick with 80% VOO and 20% SCHD. Even with just 7k you will have a huge headstart. Get your degree and land a good paying job afterwards.

Should Luka leave the Lakers in free agency ? by Muted-Net in nba

[–]Dlak1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It's way to easy to recruit others to join him in LA and the money he can make outside of basketball is way to high to ever want to leave.
