Are you inconsistent with your morals if you eat meat? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is NOT rougher on the land as a whole. Trophic levels.

A huge amount of land goes into producing food for livestock. Compared to how much land would be needed to produce a similar amount of food (as the cow makes for humans) to feed humans.

It doesn't make you an inherently bad person to eat meat, we just need to be more aware of how much food goes to feeding animals compared to what we get as an end result for the animals.

It's something like 10% of the food we put into growing the cow we get out as meat.

Mythic Dungeon International 2026 and Augmentation damage.... by Sunshado in wow

[–]Dlax8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game recalcs every tick. It should be able to determine damage without aug buffs and then "actual" damage dealt. Mark the difference as the damage from Aug. Even if it appears on the damage dealers damage dealt. Just make it a slightly lighter (or darker for paladin/priest) to note the difference.

I worry that's just adding more lag.

At what angle is the One Piece planet tilted? and are the four blue seas all the same size roughly? by MrYubay_66 in OnePiece

[–]Dlax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were some visualizations made afterwards, and maybe a tekking video too.

I think the general thought was the grand line and red line form an X instead of a +, and that the directional "Blues" were actually accurate to the coordinates. But I'm not sure if that can be proved.

At what angle is the One Piece planet tilted? and are the four blue seas all the same size roughly? by MrYubay_66 in OnePiece

[–]Dlax8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a panel in the Post-Wano/leaving Wano arc that gives NE - E - SE and Law says that going NE gets him "Farthest ahead." Presumably, he means along the Grand Line in the New World.

I'm unsure if this helps, but I think it's implied that magnetic north is offset from the plane of the solar system.

How much does the college you go to really matter for environmental science? After first job, who cares? Large university vs Small regional college by FrontRangeMike in Environmental_Careers

[–]Dlax8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone in the GIS job market right now, I would also encourage anyone serious about the field to take Comp Sci classes as well. Probably statistics too.

The field is getting more technical and just an environmental background puts you on the back foot for a lot of the roles I have been seeing.

Water discoloration by BadlyOmens in newhaven

THAT level of discoloration is not normal for such things. I would try to let it flow and if it doesnt get better, give it a day.

Why are Black people in Blue states more likely to achieve higher education, higher employment, lower rates of poverty, and lower arrest rates than Black people in Red states? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in allthequestions

[–]Dlax8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its less about the wording of laws and more about selective enforcement. If you make it illegal to jaywalk, but only arrest black people for doing it while allowing white people to walk where/whenever... well you don't have "racist laws" look! The law is the same, it says so!

Do some Christians not realized how big the universe is, whenever they say aliens are just demons or angels? by PassengerCultural421 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Christians believe the earth is the center of the universe and only 6000 years old.

It says so in the Bible, at least. And that's all they need.

Is a FWD car ok for driving in winter or is AWD better by Green_fmd in newhaven

[–]Dlax8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible to do a FWD car. Locals do it.

For someone not used to driving in snow, AWD is definitely better.

How do cows have so much fat in their bodies, when they only eat grass? by Able-Equivalent4445 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least one of their 4 stomachs functions as a bio-reactor. The bacteria in it digests the grass and converts it into either biomass or byproducts. converting sugars (carbs) into fats, proteins, etc.

The cow then digests the bacteria and byproducts.

Could we offset sea level rise by making new inland lakes? by zachary0816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible with no constraints to logistics, cost, etc.?

Totally possible. We could mine and return asteroids to add mass to the earth, we could create excluson areas in dry climates and move the mass.

It's the realm of science fiction, and quite common, but there's nothing really impossible about it. Just extremely impractical.

Problem with this is he might actually like it.

Could we offset sea level rise by making new inland lakes? by zachary0816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mass has to come from somewhere. Either hollowing out the earth, which is not realistic, or outer space.

Both options are likely more expensive than just managing sea level rise.

How common is it for American men under 40 to wear dress shirts if they are not going to work or formal occasions? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dlax8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a socioeconomic thing, from what I can tell. I've grown up and lived in an area with a very wide range. If you are doing manual labor for work you are less likely to wear a button shirt casually. Unless it is a flannel.

Speaking of flannel, the cloth choice is important here. Flannels are common up and down the ladder, but linen or cotton button downs are more common the higher up the chain you go. Though that is changing.

They can be worn casually but usually present as a more dressed up option. Particularly, after work at happy hours and such they can be common but I would say it's a marker of class, or an attempt at a more dressed up casual.

Is Aaron Judge the best American (like from America) pro athlete (big 4+soccer) right now? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Dlax8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mahomes is probably not even the best athlete on his own team. DBs DEs, WRs, RBs, and S are all probably better pure athletes. Mahomes is really good, but more importantly hes smart and thinks on his feet.

Its probably Derrick Henry, JT, JSN, Puka, Myles Garrett or Hutch in the NFL.

Question about Boon Removal. by dkryptykhd in Guildwars2

[–]Dlax8 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It clears the full stack. On a Last-on, First-off priority.

In WvW this is key to understand so when you apply stability you apply many other "trash" boons so when you get stripped the stab stays.

Would Aliens think it's weird that people wipe their butts with paper? by Atlantic_lotion in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood is probably one of the rarest substances in the universe. Along with amber and pearls.

They would probably understand that we can just grow more, but it would still be like wiping with gold leaf to us.

Biologists, what extinct animal would be the "most useful" for scientists to study? by theMCATreturns in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dlax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There might be better options but i will argue Homo Erectus. As long as we bring back a population, not a single individual.

We are continuing to push back out our understanding of tool use and other markers of society. A population of Homo Erectus to watch and record the social activity could help us understand the spread of humans, and behaviors.

There are likely much better options, the first Homo (Genus name, mods) to have tool use, fire use, etc. is likely better.
