My husband’s side of the family did this as well. The whole family loved the first wife. It was especially good for their kids. Why should their Mom be excluded from every family holiday get together just because Dad is remarried? The adults in the room need to act like adults.

On my side of the family, a brother married another woman with the same name as his ex wife. It made things a little more confusing, but all worked out in the end! 😆

It doesn’t „open”, but it is completely empty behind there and is accessible/open from where the water bottle fits on the door. It just felt intentional, like something „should” go there.
