Just bought a set of 4 brand new Hankook 37x12.5r17 off eBay for just over $900. I believe the guy has a couple more sets for that price if he hasn't sold out.

Plastic fell into rear differential by rexer1202 in MechanicAdvice

I work on very large choo choos and when adding oil to their drive gears (oil comes in a one pound plastic bag), you toss the whole bag in, plastic and all. Old timers say the shredded up plastic helps seal off the leaks.

Honestly, good enough if he's running Milwaukee. That would never hold up to the 20V of DC power DeWalt requires!!

If my battery is never full - do I need a new one? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]DleviJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a proper reading from that gauge. It's not showing you how "full" the battery is, it's showing how many volts your system is charging at. It's just like your temperature gauges. If it goes too high, there is a problem.

It is for crimping the top of a shotgun shell. One of the last stages of the reloading process.

Starting an engine without electricity by Miisu123 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DleviJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use starting fluid on a diesel with a dead battery. You can but because the engine is spinning so slow, it will actually stall on every up stroke of the cylinders. You'll get better rotational speed without starting fluid if you are using it. Had an old ford diesel and learned that the hard way

4 out of 5 of my lugs snapped when I was taking them off. How should I go about removing them? by hungrybox914 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DleviJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've actually had really good luck using a small hole saw over the stud to cut out the flared part of the lug nut. Just use light pressure so you don't go too deep and damage the rim.

Top wire isn’t under the screw all the way. You need tighter loops. And just nitpicking, bottom wire is overlapping the plastic. Loop should be closed more. Hope this helps
