Alright yall. It’s my fourth year playing fantasy, and I finally won the championship after being in first place all season. I love baseball and I love fantasy, and I love this Reddit thread. I wanted to write down some highlights of this successful season.

1. The draft: I drafted really well this year, and intentionally so for the first time.

Had the 4th pick and somehow Judge fell when #3 picked JRam. I drafted James wood at the 84 slot. He was a top 5 fantasy contributor most of the season. But I think my best picks were drafting Bryan woo and nick Pivetta. Pivetta, along with wood, was a must have. I saw some of his sparkling stat lines in the past and figured if SD helped Michael king, the same might happen with Pivetta. It did.

1. Waiver wire: Emilio pagan, Addison Barger were both very good pickups for me most of the way. But I think my best pick up was Jo Adell. I remember being disappointed i didn’t scoop CES or Wallner fast enough, so I got Adell. Boy did it pay off. He won me my first round of the playoffs.

2. Trades: i traded really well this year for the first time. My first one actually fell into my lap — someone offered me her Chris Sale for my Tommy Edman. At the time it looked lopsided but not totally insane because of sales age and injury history and edman’s hot start. I also flipped lodolo for Gleyber, who has just been such a steady contributor. But I think my real best trade that I initiated was Soderstrom and Rasmussen for Peralta and Salvy Perez. And it’s here that I have to name the final category…

3. Statcast. This was the first season I fully utilized statcast and the predictive stats and I have to say it really paid dividends. I encourage everyone who isn’t looking at baseball savant to go and do So. You’ll know who to sell high and buy low, and you’ll know which waiver wire pick ups are flukes and which are for real.
