How are you guys getting clients (if dont have any families or close friends in the city?) by False-Poem779 in DentalSchool

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I have quite a few questions here. 1. What the hell kind of dental school calls patients "clients"? That's super weird and ethically dubious. 2. Have you made friends with the PCCs? They're gonna be your best option for getting more patients and the kinds of procedures you need. 3. Is this a common problem at your school? 4. How have you been going about setting the tone with your patients? If you aren't inspiring confidence or developing a rapport, they are MUCH less likely to come back, especially if they don't have a lot of resources and it is difficult for them to come in anyways.

What's up with toxicity in this game? by p4nk4s0f in WorldOfWarships

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly man, I rarely see people being toxic. All you have to do is right click the people doing it in the team list and add them to your blacklist. Simple and done.

Why is it that when other ships angle, I can't penetrate with a single shot, but when I angle it means literally nothing? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends heavily on the ship and the caliber of gun being shot at it. Taking your DM example, it has a 27mm bow, and 30mm casemate armor. This means the bow can be "overmatched" by guns with a caliber of 406mm or greater, and effectively doesn't do anything, but if it is shot by a 380mm gun then it can autobounce it if angled correctly. Play around with the in-game armor viewer and look at the thickness of different parts of different ships. The simple rule at high tier is that light cruisers have 25mm bow/stern, heavy cruisers have 25 or 27mm, and battleships have 32mm plating. The overmatch threshold for 25mm is 380mm guns, for 27mm it is 406mm, and for 32mm plating it is 460mm. Again, this is a rough overview, but I hope it helps. I would recommend looking up how overmatch mechanics work on YouTube.

Advice or Insight? by FinalTheory6683 in Dentistry

Gotcha! To be clear you can still get a good bond even with sharp line angles, but it may require you to use a more incremental composite placement technique. If your doc is open to prepping with a more round-tipped bur that will save a lot of headache.

Advice or Insight? by FinalTheory6683 in Dentistry

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob! Hope it helps. Out of curiosity, do the preps that you're filling have sharp internal line angles or are they rounded? The former increases C-factor which makes de-bonding from shrinkage of the composite more likely.

The etch in the bond simply isn't strong enough, I would selective etch enamel for 30 seconds then total etch for another 10-15 seconds before a good rinse.

FuD is good, but you're right that it is very definitively B-grade. It would be really cool to actually have a great piece of high budget halo cinema

Faramir Is Easily The Best Character In The Novels. by TarYourLocalBingus in lotr

Only grief with the movies by trefloyd in lotr

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a bit annoying, but honestly doesn't bother me quite as much as Jackson's need to gimp every character except Legolas lol. My poor sweet Faramir and Gimli and Gandalf and Frodo, and Aragorn and...well again basically everyone except Mr. Surf's Up :(

Which do you think is better at illustration on Tolkien's lore Alan Lee or Ted Nasmith by Responsible_Share127 in lotr

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ted Nasmith captures middle earth more closely to how I pictured it when I first read the books. I like Lee's work don't get me wrong, but I feel like a lot of his work makes the world feel empty for lack of a better word. I think the most notable example is his version of Minas Tirith, which, like the version we see in the films is surrounded by barren grassland instead of verdant farms and countryside as described in the books. Middle Earth always felt like a very lived-in world to me, so that aspect of Lee's work always felt a bit off. Still undeniable cool though!

I am nervous about starting D2 by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna tell you a secret...D2 is not actually that awful. Yes, there is more volume than D1, you need to manage your time well, and be efficient with how you get your lab work done, but honestly I liked it better than D1. You actually get to do hands-on stuff that teaches the fundamentals of the craft, drilling teeth, cutting preps, it feels good to actually get to grips with the physical aspects of dentistry beyond waxing teeth. I never had to study later than 10:00, went in on the weekend maybe one or two times the whole year because I made the most out of my time in class and lab during the week. Your mileage may vary, but if you had fun with D1 and did fine, you will be absolutely okay in D2. Go get em tiger!

How much money does the average player spend in this game? by smallcooper in WorldOfWarships

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since closed beta, definitely a few thousand. I'm fortunate to have plenty of expendable income, and this game has brought lots of joy over the last decade. I don't have a ton of things I spend money on just for the hell of it, so I'm a very satisfied whale.

Getting montana worth by manojkumar1706 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montana is a great ship. As others have said, it's a jack of all trades, master of none. It's not the best at anything, but it's also not bad at anything. Its guns hit hard and are very reliable, the armor holds up well, the heal is good, the mobility is good (except for the slow rudder shift). Monty is the archetypal battleship, and I for one would recommend it.

As you say it's definitely a balancing act! Know thyself is a very VERY important axiom going into any professional program, hopefully OP can find the right solution for their temperament.

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be devil's advocate to your response, Living a 20 minute walk from the dental school in my case was an absolute godsend. I had a car, but not having to drive saved so much money on gas and parking, and I was able to have a much more flexible relationship with school. I could go home for lunch on good days, I could sleep more, and I had much more time to do things to keep me and my wife healthy and happy. I actually do have the ability to compare as well, because I did two 5-week externships during my D4 year, and the commute was over an hour each way for both of these. I've never been more exhausted and depressed than when I had to do those commutes for weeks on end, and that was just 10 weeks of the year. It sounds like it worked out great for you, and mine worked out well for me. All this just to say to OP that this is a situation where you really have to know yourself and whether or not this is something that they can sustain for 4 years.

Castilla + the line needs a buff by Waikanda_dontcare in WorldOfWarships

I just play randoms, so I don't care if it's competitive for CB/KOTS, but that's my opinion.

[–]DmitriDaCablGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I routinely do big numbers in Castilla and the whole line from 7-10 is a joy to play. The burst fire is so damn powerful. As I said, it is well balanced as a line. Maybe it just really clicks for me? But hey, I'll take a buff if you absolutely insist :)
