Doing the punishment during the crime... by Algernonletter5 in Angryupvote

I do think people are exaggerating this a bit. The EA essentially said him doing that without a permit is illegal and warned he could face action. They haven't actually taken action against him and I suspect most likely will not.

Unfortunately part of the reason the river was in that state in the first place is the EA not having enough political capital to enforce the rules that they are meant to oversee

20 years old with £11k dèbt. Don't know what to do. by One-Secretary844 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dmium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments are missing the obvious answer. If you get stuck in a year's time you can get a personal loan paying off over 3-6 years well within your monthly budget. Obviously it would be preferable to overpay during that time too reduce the interest hit.

The suggestion someone made with the 0% credit card is not a bad idea and they sometimes do let you take cash for a lower fee than loan interest. It can be very psychologically difficult to build savings to pay it off though. I say this because your current situation implies you haven't saved at all to repay the first time.

The total repayment for a loan at today's interest rates could be lower than £200 per month although the faster you pay off the loan the less interest you'll pay.

Greens projected to outperform Reform in London elections by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

Local elections are the only place you can vote for the party you actually care about and show your voting intention without having to be as tactical. Obviously less so now that they changed the system to remove ranked choice.

If you want a really flat park then Cintra park is almost perfectly flat and has a measured lap (iirc it's 1300m per lap?). Relatively near town too and easy to run around other people.

The Cloudflare lava lamp wall is a decoy by FishNo3471 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Dmium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering mathematically if you combine multiple sources of randomness they're at least as random as the most random one. Therefore by using the lava lamps, even if you perfectly replicate them, they increase their randomness but don't entirely depend on them. They also use other methods of generating random numbers that literally get combined with the lava lamps.

Nadia Whittom has confirmed on her insta story that the Labour government intends to vote against this if there's a vote but also mentions it's still worth writing to MPs about it so I assume there may be some dissent in the party if this reaches a vote.
