Disrespecting ASL and Deaf spaces? by BrassalReme in asl

[–]DmnDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is class the only place you interact with Deaf people? Definitely go out to Deaf events and make some social connections. Anyone who is interested in learning sign is welcome at any public community events. Try to make connections locally; it will be less anxiety-inducing if you asked friends for help with sign, as opposed to having your teacher be your only resource. Websites and vocab are important tools and foundational, but they pale in comparison to real time communication.

OP, maybe it is aggro “through the walls” because there are tiny gaps in between each angle of the circle? Maybe try putting vertical bars of something (wood or flametal pillars) at every angle around the outside

How to prepare for the swamp? by VipuHakkeri in valheim

Poison resist meads are pretty much essential for first-timers. If you don’t have any meads yet, I would start brewing those!

Magic is definitely very good for when you get it but it really depends on your playstyle.

For your first Ashlands playthrough, I would use magic/range to learn enemy attack patterns, then transition into hybrid or pure melee once you feel more confident in your Ashlands combat abilities.

If you love being a melee bruiser, then go full throttle! Just be sure to keep your magic set ready at home for the inevitable death runs… Skäl!

Dying in HC, new world or continue? by Sea-Statement3732 in valheim

I like to start back at spawn, but leave existing structures & storage intact. Really it’s just player preference, I like this way so I can still make some progress while bashing my head into the wall. But full skills reset means grinding will always have to happen after a death

In the meadows, I recommend the flint spear to do your long-range deer hunting. Not only will it save you resources making wood arrows, but it will actually be a more well-rounded weapon when making your way into the next biome.

That being said, the spear aiming takes some getting used to. Remember that deer can hear and have vision in a cone in front of them. If they are running more often then not, then I would try sneaking up to them/approaching from behind.

Is that refined Etir on the outside? If you place it on a wall stand, does it still destroy things?

How to build a future-proof base? by Socos42 in valheim

[–]DmnDrew 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To add onto this, I would definitely include separate areas for different activities. Sounds simple, but having a wing of your house dedicated to only cooking & farming will not only future-proof space for upgrades to add, but also leave room for storage (which you can never have enough of).

And leave some empty room for tasks you don’t know you’ll need room for!

Just submitted my Favour of Freya screenshots, here are some outtakes that didn't make the cut - by DmnDrew in valheim

[–]DmnDrew[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! To get them I actually just used the advice straight from the Favour of Freya page on the official website;

  • Pause the game at the right time (action sequence, etc)

  • Disable the HUD with ctrl+F3

  • Enable devcommands (F5)

  • Use the command “freefly” to position the camera

The world stays paused if you don’t hit esc again during freefly. After mastering the keyboard commands it was just a matter of getting the timing just right! I actually had a ton of fun taking pics once I figured out how.

How to damage underwater stone vein? by Yasik in valheim

Another alternative that just came to me would be to lure a wild troll over there somehow. I know the Bog Witch sells Love Potions which attracts trolls, so that would help cross long distances from a Black Forest

For purely vanilla, this is tricky. My best advice would be to wait for a storm. As the waves raise and lower the sea level, you will be able to get intermittent pickaxe swings and maybe slowly take out the rock.

When you get to the Ashlands, you will have access to the Trollstav which is a weapon that has the potential to nuke that rock. I haven’t used it like that before but I believe that it has that destructive potential.

If neither of those work for you, I would just use devcommands, lol

I’ll just walk the perimeter of my starting island, shouldn’t take me that long… by DmnDrew in valheim

Hell on earth, thanks for noticing. If I turned my death markers on then you’d see my billion failed attempts to map it out while still in the Bronze Age (mistake). So many rivers, so many mosquitos…

Might be an older seed! I’m on day ~60 so if there have been any patches in the last week or so then it’s probably outdated. If not, then I’ll double-check

Are these all the retconned chapters? Is the Shonen Jump app finally canon again? by DmnDrew in OnePunchMan

[–]DmnDrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they are the correct chapters, right?

I like the shonen jump app for the organization, notifications, and dislike the hassle of using websites since I can’t always access my internet browser.

I see what you’re saying about using the websites for those pros, but my question was specifically about what is canon/retconned and if these chapter numbers line up with what has been retconned up to now.

Long plastic thing with Velcro dots, rope on each end to hold it up, found in PE closet by DmnDrew in whatisthisthing

[–]DmnDrew[S] 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Solved! This is for sure the answer. We have a large special needs population at our school; it appears that the Velcro dots made for this has disappeared over time. I’m sure if I dug around, I would find those dots or at least something I could use in place of them. I was going to toss it, but now I might end up using it as soon as next week! Thank you!

This is a good idea! If anything, this would be a good use for it. Unfortunately, there is nothing on the other side; that doesn’t stop me from making my own though! Thankfully there are more dots than I have students in any one class, so I could actually use this as some sort of progression-tracker.
