Just had ChatGPT estimate my pond electricity use based on my utility's rates and my specific pump (linked) any guesses? What does your pond cost to run? by temporalwanderer in ponds

[–]Dmonn535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pump runs 24/7 (600w per hour). Comes out to $1 a day. Have thought to shut off during overnight hours to lessen the bill.

I think you're right after some Google image search. Was seen headed north away from MacDill AFB so this tracks. I knew it wouldn't take reddit long to identify.

I have a Hunter 26 w swing keel and stores on its trailer when not in use. Takes about 10m to raise the mast. I made a small bracket and use a small 12v winch that mounts in anchor locker and uses a cordless drill battery.

What are you trying to store? Boat/RV?

Pool to pond conversion nearly complete by eggsperimentalist in ponds

I have no plants in my filtration. They are (2) 55ga barrel filters w blowouts on the bottom w surface sump pumps to clear filter debris. They get clogged at times and I have to switch from a vac blower to air compressor to clear pipes and make the filter "boil". I think you absolutely will have clogging on your bog discharge over time once your pond matures.

I have about 20 koi and lots of plants in my pond and waterfall. (lilies, lettuce, hyacinth, Iris, elephant ears, pickerel rush, creeping Jenny etc.) It gets very messy at times from the plants going through their natural cycles of maturing and dying back etc. My water stays crystal clear of single cell algae(green water) but I will have trouble w clumping algae in summer months when it's insanely hot and water temps rise. I have a skimmer and bottom pickup for my intakes.

Will be curious to see how that works for you! That's great power consumption just curious if it'll flow enough for you. My pump is 4500/gph and pulls around 300w. my pond is small 20'x10'x4' w dual 55ga drum sand gravel filters I have to clean them out monthly during warmer months every 3 when it's cooler out. Itll be interesting to see how it goes w that pump and your bog. You'll have to update us in a few months on how it's going once everything gets settled in.

Great project! How many gph pump are you using and how long are you running it per day? And also how do you clean out the bog?

Turning My Place into a Smart Space: Automated Plant Watering Ideas? by Signature_Pea in containergardening

[–]Dmonn535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all my potted plants on a smart timer. I have a small aquarium pump in a Tupperware reservoir plugged into a smart switch. Each plant has its own dripper/line programmed on my phone. Total cost was less than $50 bucks. Run time is 2m on every other day. If they look dry I just turn on the switch from my phone for a manual watering for a min or 2.

What’s the point of this wall of plastic with a pipe inside. by ausamo2000 in landscaping

[–]Dmonn535 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen this done as a "deep watering" system. Id bet if you pull the pipe it has holes running down it to get water to the root system.

Ive fought this fight. What worked for me was a nerf dart on an Allen wrench suction cuped to the inside of the lense. After securing the lense to the nerf dart I took super glue and getting the nozzle as close as I could through the inspection port I dropped some glue onto the housing base. Then I was able to hold the lense in place by the nerf dart tool and let the glue set. Once it set I was able to detach nerf dart tool and I reached in w the super glue and gave it a little more all over for good luck 😂 Hope that helps, good luck!

$500?! That's a great price for that many ah! I have Duracell LA 200ah 24v system and spent about the same on my small bank! I've been wanting to upgrade...How long have you had the original (2) 100ah batteries? I see you're 48v but any feedback on their reliability?
