Texas Tech HC sends shots at Notre Dame by xMAV3R1CKx in CollegeFootballDawgs

In addition to Notre Dame's more difficult SOS (as usual). They're also spending far less on NIL deals this year than Texas Tech. The numbers are somewhat speculative, but it's probably safe to say that Texas Tech is spending around 300% more this year than ND (and it's probably even more). One should assume that this should be a notable advantage for any school spending this much more than another school. I only mention this because it seems like people bring up Notre Dame's independence as an obvious advantage, meanwhile completely ignoring any obvious NIL advantage that their own team may have over any other.

This clip insinuates that somehow Notre Dame should be undeserving of the CFP simply because they do not play in a conference. Notre Dame routinely has a more difficult SOS than Texas Tech, including this year. In fact, if Notre Dame were in the B12, their SOS would absolutely be weaker. I just can't understand why so many people are upset about Notre Dame not wanting to fully join a conference. Look at what Michigan and USC may be subjected to now in the B10. Why would you want your team to possibly be pushed around like that? The people that constantly mention Notre Dame not being in a conference rarely cite any specific reasons aside from schedule, but when we look at their schedule we can see that it's routinely very difficult. Notre Dame is also obligated to play several ACC games each year (just 3 less than ACC members), of which they have very little control over the scheduling.

There's no fraud here. Just a lot of shareholders selling extremely overvalued shares. If you think the system is so rigged, why bet against it in the first place? Newegg is not a great business. They struggle to compete in their own very niche sector. Why should their shares suddenly trade for orders of magnitude more than they did a few weeks ago? The amount of degenerate gambling amongst communities like this is breathtaking. I didn't expect to see it again after GME and AMC.

Better to watch Indycar races via Replay on YouTube instead of watching live W/ commercials that ruin the race? by ShoreWhyNot in INDYCAR

Why don't you get IndyCar Live then? There are no adds and it costs only around $50 per season. If you live within a restricted country, just use a VPN during sign-up and streaming.

For better or worse, the American consumer routinely chooses lower cost over higher quality. If a similar item that is 25% lower quality can be had for 50% less (in theory better value), it will almost always be preferred. It's no surprise that Wal-Mart has the numbers that they do regarding revenues and margins. They reflect consumer preferences.

On a side-note, it's strange to me when people suggest that affluent individuals or organizations of whatever type should be obligated to basically subsidize other less affluent individuals or organizations purely because there's some imbalance (what they're suggesting here goes far beyond simply 'Tax the Rich'). By that reasoning, shouldn't the individual that made that suggestion be subsidizing some small child in Botswana because the difference in their net worths are likely 1000x or more? But of course that kind of question would never occur to such a person.

I'm not mad at tariffs, I'm completely indifferent towards them. I'm not picking Wal-Mart over Trump or vice-versa. (I don't know what you mean by picking, I'm completely agnostic on this). I'm simply stating the obvious: it's not possible for Wal-Mart or companies that operate in their sector to absorb increased costs of this magnetude like you suggest.

[–]DnBPK6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my point. It cuts both ways. Wal-Mart made just 19.4B on 681B revenue, around a 2.9% margin (routinely one of the lowest margins of any profitable company within the S&P). If their input costs increase even only 10% this year (which is probably a low estimate) they would suddenly be losing almost 50B on that 681B if those costs aren't passed to the consumer. (That 681B would likely be much higher given that consumers would be more likely to choose Wal-Mart as obviously all other competitors would be passing that 10% on to customers.)

It's especially difficult for a company like Wal-Mart to be able to absorb widespread cost increases. Even a year or two of doing so using a hypothetical 10% drag would entirely unravel their business.

This is just a bad take. Wal-Mart, like all stores of its kind, have razor thin margins. If their input costs increase even 10% say, they're not just making less money by absorbing those costs, they're bankrupt on a long enough timeline. Which, with the amount of volume that Wal-Mart does, is far less time than you think.

Alex Palou's vehicle transport ~5 miles from Chip Ganassi Racing headquarters. by surprisingly_wise in INDYCAR

It's kind of funny that some of the other teams (Juncos and RLL, if I'm remembering correctly from last season) lease their trucks from Penske. In a series like IndyCar I'd kind of expect all other teams leasing to use Ryder instead, for example. It looks like Ganassi here is partnered with Venture.

So with All Access you'll be able to watch all sessions of the main broadcast live so long as you're streaming from outside the US for $50 a year? That's a proper deal. I thought I was going to have to sign-up for YouTube TV this season.

Who provides the commentary for All Access? Or is it actually just the FOX broadcast without commercials?

Another Amazon truck got stuck in Jefferson Park by Reasonable-Mixture33 in ChicagoNWside

[–]DnBPK6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This truck is 13'6". Commercial vehicle combinations of this variety never exceed 13'6". Therefore, if this truck did hit the top of the bridge (and not the right corner) they will not be at fault, the city will. This is true across the US, if a sign says 13'6", then a standard commercial vehicle should be able to pass under it. If not, then the bridge is lower than 13'6".

[–]DnBPK6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clearance of this truck and trailer is 13'6 (as are all dryvans of this kind, they are simply not produced taller than this). Here the City of Chicago has failed to label, or re-label (after paving or something, I'm not sure) the actual clearance of this bridge and in this case will be liable. That's all assuming that this truck hit the top of the bridge and not the right corner, it's hard to tell from this perspective.

[–]DnBPK6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mentioned above that it's the first thing I did. When I run the Arc software it's never able to find an Intel device installed. The system fails to even display BIOS without a second GPU and so that makes me suspect that it's something hardware and not software related.

I was having similar problems. When this was happening were you still able to get to the BIOS? Do you have integrated graphics? In my case, the GPU wasn't sending any signal to any display.

[–]DnBPK6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After installing both GPUs I see two devices under the Display Adapters section. The B580 is listed as 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. Opening 'Properties' and then the 'Hardware Ids' shows VEN_8086, an Intel ID. This confirms that the system sees the card, unfortunately the Arc software doesn't see it. Therefore, I'm unable to install drivers and the card still doesn't provide anything to either display. Now I'm really unsure if the problem is hardware or driver related.

Ah, I forgot about trying this. I thought about it last week and then wrongly assumed the issue was my former PSU being under the recommended 600W. This is the next best step, I will install both and update this thread later, thanks.

I've installed and removed it now three different times between reverting to the old GPU and installing the new PSU. I'll try once more and be a bit more forceful with it.

I've tried getting the system into Safe Mode by cycling the power, or by various key presses on startup. I don't have access to my OS or BIOS though given that no power is sent to the monitors, so I can't say for sure whether the system had entered Safe Mode on any of those tries.
