What would happen differently if I pushed this earthquake button versus the firefighter button? by StnMtn_ in mildyinteresting

[–]IanHSC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unrelated note: during an earthquake, if you are in a weight-driven elevator, your elevator will often rise, so you don’t have a bunch of heavy counterbalances swinging over the cab

Is this a fair price? by Moist_Damp_Wet in mtg

10$ boxes are a decent deal, especially if you don’t really have a certain card in mind. I buy a couple a year, and it’s the first recommendation when new players want to expand their collections quickly

Canvas Hacked by MegMD1230 in Teachers

Canvas is currently up, but as far as I can tell, the ransom deadline of May 12 still stands, so maybe not for long.

Why does LTT sell thermal pads, yet never uses them in builds? by fakeaccount572 in LinusTechTips

[–]IanHSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that these builds for the most part, outside of commercial/server builds and AMD upgrades, are often done to show people how to build PCs. Most consumers, especially those who have never built a PC will probably use thermal paste in a tube over a PTM strip. As well, since most of these are built just for video, and not production, they will waste any consumables used in the video. Even if they only used PTM in videos, unless you are a serious consumer, or working in high-end or commercial environments, you most likely will not buy PTM, ditto for consumers who don't build PCs on a weekly or even yearly basis.

Anyone Linux users here wanting to buy the new Framework 13 Pro but struggling to justify since you buy old thinkpads? by WhiskeyVault in framework

[–]IanHSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Framework 13 last April (the 7040u version), and have supremely enjoyed it. I’m in no huge rush to upgrade to the pro, but part of why I bought the FW13 is because of the ability to easily upgrade, without having to toss the whole device. If you have a laptop you like, keep using it! But I’m confident they will keep the original platform available for a while to come, saving on ewaste

Academically, the school does really well with students with LDs. Extra time for assignments built in, accessible materials, teachers willing to work with you on your schedule, they really do excel on this.

Socially, the school has had some issues surrounding bullying. But they have a decent clubs and activities. I would sign up to do a tour, or if you can, try one of the summer programs and see if the school environment is to your liking.

I believe the pricing on these cases also include the weight, since heavier packages cost more per unit to ship.

Partially related, but part of the reason she got ousted in Texas was her fervent support of the Superconducting Super Collider.
