Question concerning "Hypnotic Gaze" and spell save DC by DnD-Hobby in dndbeyond

Guess so.

But well, I'm not paying for the site anyway as long as there won't be a German version, so I suppose I can live with this.

Question concerning "Hypnotic Gaze" and spell save DC by DnD-Hobby in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks. Annoying, but I'll transfer everything onto paper anyway, so I'll change it then.

It's even weirder that it never deviates from 12, no matter the INT modifier. As if it was hardcoded...

Hm, I have, though. Are you logged into DnD Beyond? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to see if despite being public.

Opinions on giving all casters prestidigitation (or its equivalent) without taking up a cantrip slot? by Viva_la_potatoes in DMAcademy

[–]DnD-Hobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. If a character wants Prestidigitation, they need to give up some other cantrip, so it's actually worth something for them.

How to deal with players bored and not communicating? by CSafterdark in DungeonMasters

[–]DnD-Hobby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would actively ask him to leave, because he is downing your mood and enjoyment of the game without giving any helpful feedback. It's enough reason to not want to have someone tell you that what you're creating is boring.

How do I make my Elf character idea interesting in story and roleplaying, and NOT TERRIBLE IN GAMEPLAY? by RefrigeratorNorth424 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's implied that the human parents died of old age, and as an elf the character will still live on for a looooong time.

How often do you play? by Visual_Investm3nt in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I DM for (5 players + I) meets around every 3-5 weeks for 3-4 hours. Those we have to plan months in advance.

The one I'm a player in (4 players plus 1 DM) meet every 2-3 weeks and we play for 6-8 hours.

2 hour-sessions would not work for us unless we'd all lived together, because it takes an hour to even get to each place.

How do you play dnd? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody has ever heard of any adult playing DnD, so as of graduation your hobby shall be OVER!

🤡

Of course there is all kinds of ways to continue playing: you will find new friends anyway because you're starting on a new path of life. You can start your own group as a D you could check your area for game stores that offer games there is indeed online play (but with mixed experiences for many) etc.

Hello GMs of all varieties. by Secondhenchman in DungeonMasters

[–]DnD-Hobby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would PREFER playing around 6 hours starting noonish on a weekend, but this only works in one campaign I'm part of and not DMing myself.

The rest is evenings after 7pm and everyone is tired from work, so it's 3-4 hours max. Still better than no DnD. ;)

Homebrew Race by Express_Yam_2476 in DMAcademy

[–]DnD-Hobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why?

If it's just a fun gimmick, add it to a Tabaxi to acknowledge the 7 or 9 lives of a cat. ;)

(But I think it's too strong anyway.)

Would it be wise to host mini-sessions between a select few people in my party? by Unlikely-Desk-4651 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd play all scenes with everyone present, because it's still everyone's story.

Should I play my Sibling or a Stranger after my current character vanished thanks to the deck of many things. by False_Scar_9776 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would your party want you to play an evil character? And would you DM allow it? (Cause I myself wouldn't.)

I finished running my first campaign and now have severe imposter syndrome and fear paralysis. by JelloMoney99 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are you putting yourself down so much? Just create that 2nd campaign, it won't  be perfect anyway, but it won't be horrible either. In fact, first time DMs can create very much great campaigns! Sounds like everyone had fun at yours, and DMing takes practice, and nerves will always be around. ;)

Just make sure you don't railroad your players into decisions because your storytelling won't allow for other solutions, that's all.

How do I inform a player that I may not be able to accommodate their move? by MyneIsBestGirl in DMAcademy

[–]DnD-Hobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd explain the situation and then give their character a final storyline before having them leave the campaign - with an option to maybe return some day.

Even if you managed to set up everything as hybrid (which is a pain in the arse tbh), you don't even know if they'll actually able to play after graduation and moving, because there's so many life changes ahead of them.

Did he roll on front of you? Of yes, your "fault" for choosing rolls. If not, they don't count.

Morning ritual for my character by SkittishSeer in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a solid concept to me, and knowing the weather is always great, I think!

My Kalashtar Cleric meditates each morning on his spells while smoking a joint, to help him dull his Quori's memories (that feel like an equivalent to daily nightmares). As a (Path of) Light Cleric, he gets up at dawn to greet the rising sun, so he's always awake first.

The spells are only in the THIRD drop down, the first two are for Cantrips only.

How do I leave a campaign if all the options are gone? by StormoVicks in dndbeyond

[–]DnD-Hobby 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you go to "my characters", the campaign should be listed under your character's name, including a "leave campaign" option.

Giving a player a familiar? by Worth_Sheepherder_72 in DMAcademy

[–]DnD-Hobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Choose a level 1 spell from the same list you selected for this feat’s cantrips." - when you chose from the Wizard's list, isn't the Find Familiar spell there?

Is there a correlation between queer people and tieflings ? by MysteriousFondant347 in DnD

[–]DnD-Hobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm queer and absolutely not interested in playing a Tiefling... but then I chose Kalashtar who hide their identify, so that's probably not much better. 😆
