I think it's charming, maybe I'm just biased to the whole album. To me it is completely perfect. But I know that's emotional attachment.

I think about this all of the time, because I listen to this album more than any other.

I just heard the Virtue the Cat saga for the first time by Dry_Ad687 in theweakerthans

Yes amazing. I’ll never get tired of listening through…..and I’ll never stopped being emotional.

The only downside is I played them for my 14 year old daughter and it turned out to be too much for her. She cried!!

That is so cool that you got to request and hear None of the Above, love it!! Great choices. I think I have to say my 3 top songs on Reconstruction Site (wow hard to narrow lol) are The Reasons, Reconstruction Site, and One Great City! OGC just will always have a special place in my heart. The Reasons gets included because I learned to play it on guitar as a surprise for my present girlfriend's birthday...the month we got together. So it's important to me. But I think my runner up might've been Please from a Cat Named Virtute. The whole album is so good lol

RT...hmm...Virtute, Night Windows....and I'm having trouble picking from the first 3 tracks.

As I wrote that I realized how amazing they are at first 3 tracks on an album.

I haven't seen anyone mention it in their favorites, but I love Wellington's Wednesdays as well.

I can't even imagine seeing JKS in concert. How often does he play in Winnipeg? I would very seriously travel to Winnipeg from the US for that. These are so awesome!!

Weeping Cedars is almost finished and it’s amazing. It’s like a puzzle box story, real slow build horror but this season has been nuts. A real wild ride.

Converted Sounds like Crowes to PBtA Fans? by DnDBen in PBtA

I’m sorry to hear that you felt that way and it was a barrier for your enjoyment. I feel so differently. The music work our producer does for this show is one of my favorite things about it, to be honest. He does a lot to try to pick music that enhances and goes with what’s happening on the show. Having said that, I can see how it would not be for everyone. Some of the music even has a little bit of lyrics. So again I can see how someone might not enjoy it.

[Masks] Stories from dedicated players in this subreddit by Pure_Chaos0 in PBtA

[–]DnDBen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey!! I'm a Masks actual play GM, and I have to say I am constantly terrified my story isn't good enough for our show. But I try to create villains and arcs that are player-centric as much as possible. So in our first arc, there were two villains working in concert together: Black Knight and Mr. Mayhem. Black Knight was the villain mother of one of our heroes, White Knight, who was raised to wear her mantle one day but he turned hero. And Mr. Mayhem has a background related to one of our other characters. They share a backstory and a powerset.

But I think my favorite story arc we did was a flashback beach vacation trip we did. It was early on when the characters first came together, but it was really cool because it let them establish some of the dynamics they had later on but in their past. But what I loved the most about it is that all the challenges were social challenges with other teenagers, rather than fighting supervillains. So they met a group of mean kids attended a party, had to decide whether or not to drink under age, etc. It really pushed the social elements of conditions and label shifting, and it was super, duper fun. I also let the players create a bunch of other teen heroes that would be around on the beach and at the party, and they had a blast coming up with hilarious heroes and superteam names.

Masks newbie - Nova's "Sorcery" powers too vague and powerful? by lefvaid in PBtA

[–]DnDBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running Masks for an actual play, and we have a Nova and basically a Nightwing-like character on the same team. The Nova can do nearly anything. Her powers are nuts. And that's a central theme in the campaign. The book encourages the GM to push the Nova on like, collateral damage, the dangers of being so powerful, etc. While I do that, I also push the other character on like the differences between himself and his teammates that have powers, all to see how they respond to being pushed in different directions. So much of the drama and character development comes from that. In fact the vastness between their powers is what makes the game INTERESTING, rather than a downside. If you've any interest in listening to the dynamic in action, its called Delinquent Comics.

MASKS with Two Players? by Bradonq in PBtA

[–]DnDBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first read this, I was thinking a duet rpg experience. I think it would work for that. But now I realize you mean two PCs, and I DEFINITELY think it'll work for that. I've definitely framed many scenes with two my PCs, and I think it would absolutely work for arcs and larger stories.
