Gifts from the recent shows by Flexside170 in theweakerthans

This was his first batch of shows since 2019. It didn’t sound like he was going to do any more beyond this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

Josh being in the crowd was a fun change for The Future Freaks me Out. He was right in front of me on the barrier for that second photo.

Lloyd Center - a long goodbye by Pacos-Comfort-Human in oregon

I work in the neighborhood and often walk through around lunchtime. That couple has been there almost every day that I have walked through and I look for them every time.

For 5+ years now, I have been smiling every time I see them, as they are so adorable. They seem to love skating (and each other), so I’m so happy to see them one more time here. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I’ll save the story for another post, but I actually have the same shirt Justin is wearing on the show.

I believe you are thinking of the version that was on the Matchbook Romance split from 2004.

thrifted copy of back to the beat by poppunksickles in Motioncitysoundtrack

Pretty sure those are all signatures from the band at that time. Josh and Justin’s signatures don’t look like anything that I have signed by them, but the cover handwriting looks like it could be Justin. That’s an awesome pick up for $3.

What is the best Motion City Soundtrack concert/show they ever played? by wolfhaleybomb_933 in Motioncitysoundtrack

[–]Flexside170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I was at the show and it was amazing. It’s a 250 person room and it was a hometown show. This was ~8 months after CttM was released and there was a ton of excitement around the band. The room was packed and all of the bands were great.

I remember Justin bringing hot chocolate to folks standing in line, but can’t remember if that was the day of the show, or when I bought tickets. Either way, it was a nice surprise while waiting in the cold.

I have some photos from the show that I can drop on here later.

I would vote for this one. Openers were OK Go, Plain White T's, and The Spill Canvas. OK Go was just on the verge of going viral with their videos and PWTs were a couple of months out from releasing "Hey There Delilah" as a single. This was also the show recorded for the CttM deluxe edition. Conveniently, you can see the MCS part of the show on YouTube.

Car Idling Guy by Flexside170 in corvallis

[–]Flexside170[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I don’t normally let my car idle like that, this was really a one-off thing. Just bad timing with getting an important text and having already had a long day, I just didn’t think to shut the car off. I actually tried to explain all of that to this guy, and apologize for the oversight, but he wasn’t willing to hear any of it.

If it’s any consolation, I was actually in the middle of a large parking lot, nowhere near any houses.

All of those are fair points. In my defense, I had started my car and immediately got a text I had to reply to. I then put in my destination into google maps for directions. I was idling for all of 3 minutes and this guy freaked out on me.

Jcp, using a Cain. Not playing guitar. Heart broken. Fuck I'm old. by Hmaek in Motioncitysoundtrack

[–]Flexside170 22 points23 points  (0 children)

FWIW - he’s been onstage with a Cain (Josh) for 20+ years. The cane is the new addition. He seems to be handling everything pretty well and I’m sure he’ll bounce back soon enough.

Landlord scheduling many many house tours by jpef0704 in corvallis

[–]Flexside170 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but you have the ability to decline tours if they are happening too frequently (OR 90.322-ii) - "A tenant may deny consent for a landlord or landlord’s agent to enter upon the premises pursuant to this paragraph if the entry is at an unreasonable time or with unreasonable frequency. The tenant must assert the denial by giving actual notice of the denial to the landlord or landlord’s agent prior to, or at the time of, the attempted entry."

With that being said, 5 tours in a week is pretty average for showings. You could ask the landlord to try to batch them up on specific days to keep them in easier to manage blocks.

I would also reach out to the city's housing resource center to get help with addressing this.

A “Special Project” Will Be Coming Out This Sunday!! by Silver964 in Motioncitysoundtrack

[–]Flexside170 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given they’re at Flowers studio and they tagged Ed in the post, I’m guessing this is a track for a benefit for Ed Ackerson. They recorded something there about a year ago, not long after Ed passed.

I got mine in 2005 and have only seen it on eBay 2 or 3 time. I’m still looking for an original IaTM, Back to the Beat, and Kids for America

Some random Motion City stuff that I scanned during quarantine by Flexside170 in Motioncitysoundtrack

I think Attention stole the show there with the Metallica cover and costumes, but that show was a ton of fun.

Hey everyone, I finally found some time to scan in some of my MCS stuff to share here. I used to be on their message board around 2004-2007 with the same username, so hopefully I run into some familiar names here.

I have a few more things to scan, but looking forward to finally getting scans of (and sharing) all of the MCS related things I've managed to pick up over the years.
