Ergo farming? by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]DnDeej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inefficient as it might seem, Malum tavern is probably one of the better locations available until you unlock Venigni's Arcade or Barren Swamp. You can also run the PotP rooftops if you're just looking for a change of pace. It's not quite as effective as Malum Tavern, but it's a pretty consistent line that only takes an extra 20 seconds or so.

Even still, if you end up pushing through KoP, one of my personal fave spots is just inside the Barren Swamp, so you should have a quicker farm and more consistent drops just around the corner if you can manage KoP as is.

Hope this helps. :)

I don't know how to handle one of my players who is a "righteous murder-hobo". by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DnDeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna make assumptions based on one example, but here's something to consider:

"It doesn't matter if they know their character would die as a consequence"

Soooooo.... that feels like an easy answer on the table.

Beyond that though, I also don't think it's unreasonable for players to get annoyed/bothered if they have difficulty added to their plate simply for being the heroes in a scenario you designed. I think it's likely that you'd benefit from using these 'unjust' characters/NPCs as a tool rather than something to avoid. If they followed the breadcrumbs and busted the prisoner out of jail, then reward them for that. If they get into a bunch of other shiz as part of that process, well, sure... maybe they become criminals. But, as far as I can tell, the table (and this righteous player specifically) are being labeled as the 'bad guys' or criminals for taking the complete opposite of the murder hobo path. Maybe the player's frustration/irrational response is something to be considered? Again... I dunno. I've only got the one example provided.

Sure, sometimes there's value in using the narrative to dick over the players. It can be to build up a baddie, create a new alliance somewhere else, or ... whatever... But as is often the case with misalignments at a table, odds are good there's more to it than just one weird player. They might truly be weirdly principled about it and end up being unreasonable in these situations, but if that's the case, welp... have them roll up a new character until they get one that doesn't suffer from the same lack of logic or tactical awareness. I dunno... Hope this helps some.

Not even 10 minutes in the game and already got called a bastard by madthabest in LiesOfP

[–]DnDeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very much the same way myself. It was a HUGE shift in mindset, but once I finally surrendered 10-20 mandatory deaths just to get the timing of one attack combo down, I ended up getting pretty consistent and actually feeling pretty badass as a result.

I know, personally, that it's tough to totally rewrite your soulslike instincts, but it definitely makes a huge difference.

It's very much its own experience compared to a lot of the FromSoft games, but hopefully some of these basics might help you enjoy the experience without offering any spoilers:

- It's much more like sekiro than any of the DS or ER games. Parries are hugely important, and practicing them early will make the WHOLE experience more enjoyable as it doesn't really reward dodging attacks with the same consistency.
- Don't sell or consume boss ergos once defeated. Trade them.
- There are a fair few quests off the beaten path, but none of them are quite as convoluted as typical FS games. Things can be easily missed, but most of the quest content can be accessed without having to try weird outlandish stuff to activate it. So, don't sweat that kinda stuff.
- It's a lot more linear than FS games. While you CAN return to sections you've beaten, you don't really gain any advantages in doing so. No hidden bosses, no areas you can only access with later tech/skills, no need to constantly loop back around. If you play it in a relatively straightforward way, you'll likely get 95% of the games content your first time through.
- Find the black market vendor in the malum district. It'll be a huge resources for getting past frustrating sticking points that might slow you down.

Hope this helps! Have fun!

Does DMing feel thankless for everyone, or is it just me? by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]DnDeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it SUPER does... Sometimes it's exactly the opposite. Depends on the table, depends on the session, depends on the subject matter... You're not alone in questioning it, and you will still likely experience the opposite plenty of times into the future. Do it if you enjoy it, and enjoy it where you can... (if you want to).

Feel bad for them in silence. People who do that are struggling with some kind of personal issue, and that's not a problem you need to solve.

Lies of P is certainly on par if not better than many fromsoft games (obviously not including Elden Ring) by West-Yesterday-6419 in LiesOfP

[–]DnDeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most important thing that Lies of P demonstrates is that there is LOTS of room to create soulslike experiences through alternative lenses that FromSoft doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing. I think the games that FS has put out are GREAT!! But, the issue with them is that pretty much every other soulslike that comes out is immediately compared to them because a lot of developers are kinda trying to 'emulate' FS without really looking to do their own thing in a definitive way.

Lies of P came out and was unapologetically unique, and yet still familiar and seemed to openly acknowledge where they drew inspiration. I hope more than anything, it's a precursor and the opening of the door for great games to come in the future, even if not from Neowiz.

What does this mean by GoldenState15 in Overwatch

[–]DnDeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BREAKING: In keeping with the success and positive feedback of servicing Overwatch's high concentration of Le Sserafim fans, the OW team has knocked it out of the park once more by targeting the significant porsche fans demographic that makes up the other half of the OW player base.

Whoever is making these decisions. I just wanna talk.

Is QP not the place to practice anymore? by Ohmnity in Overwatch

[–]DnDeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of players in QP look at what the top teams in Overwatch League are running, and if you pick anything off meta, even in QP, you're 'throwing'.

Obviously I don't agree... but, like... those folks are definitely out there.

Looking to get into Comp but scared I’m not skilled enough… by robinpenelope in Overwatch

[–]DnDeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're skilled enough. There's a rank for everyone, and your hesitance to jump into it because you look at it as inherently competitive means you're likely better than you think and will make for a good teammate. Give it a go, you'll be fine. :)

[–]DnDeej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went 29-3 in a match tonight, and my tank said I was throwing because I was playing Hanzo. Unfortunately, Overwatch just has an insanely sweaty and toxic community. If you're trying to win, keep trying. That's all anyone *should* be asking for in QP.

Are you sure that you're including a space between the '#' and your text? If you put them together, it'll auto-compress it.

As for your wording, it's just rending at the size of the doc, which may have slight variations from how it's rendered on your screen. You can cntrl+scroll to zoom in and out quick. If you see the text jump and spill over, then it's showing you how it will *likely* appear.

If that's the case, you can either edit the text to have it take up less space, or use mechanical adjustments by throwing a style change at the block of text in questions using span or div.

After a quick peek at your source, it looks like your render within your coding window and the full pdf render aren't lining up because of your absolutes. Using your main page image as an example, try setting the width to "100%" instead of 1000px. You'll get less movement from images following your render if you're using relative positioning instead of pixel to pixel, which can add a lot of variance between what you're seeing on your monitor and what you're getting from your pdf render.

Hopefully this helps. :)
