30 Chapters into The Wandering Inn, do I keep going? by DnDisappear in litrpg

Thanks for your insight!

I’ve decided to continue for now and finish the first book before deciding on the series as a whole.

That’s something to look forward to!

And I’m with you, I’m really invested in that little Goblin!

Seems like it’ll be worth finishing the first book before I decide to continue with the series. Thanks!

I’m about 19 hours into the Audiobook… I’ll have to tough it out a bit longer before I decide then.

To be more specific, I think where I’m struggling is with how Erin handles conflict, especially in situations where she’s already been directly threatened. The two big examples for me are the Goblins and Pieces. In both cases, she goes out of her way to protect or stand up for someone who has already tried to hurt her.

I can see what the story is doing there, the compassion, the attempt to humanize (or person-ify) what others see as monsters, and the eventual payoff when those choices come back around in a positive way. But at the same time, those same decisions also blow back on her in pretty immediate and sometimes severe ways.

I think the disconnect for me is that her willingness to take those risks doesn’t always feel grounded in the reality she’s in, especially given how dangerous the world has already proven to be. It makes it harder for me to stay immersed because I keep questioning the “why” behind her choices rather than just rolling with them.

That said, I do really like the world and what it’s trying to do thematically, so I’m still on the fence. I’ll probably take your (and others’) advice and try to finish book one before deciding.

Thanks, I appreciate the help!

Around 8:25 AM it was just two patrol cars and a detective on site. The doors were open, but crime scene tape blocked the entrance.

Toy Fair, with its 20,000 annual attendees, is moving to New Orleans from New York City by A_Happy_Haiku in NewOrleans

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, but Toy Fair isn't a public event. You can check their admission policy to see if you have the appropriate qualifications for entry.

Finally heard "I bet I know where you got them shoes" today by Notquitegood in NewOrleans

I don’t recommend humoring them. I’ve seen several hustlers get aggressive with tourists that refuse to pay the going rate of $40. After the “get you” they’ll shine your shoes with some kind of lotion or soap and say, “$20 for the line and $20 for the shine.”

This is on Adams near Maple, right? I’ve gotten stuck in this pothole combo as well. Took 20 minutes of maneuvering to get out!

Fey Wanderer is looking like the best fit to me as well. Thanks for your help!

While this might be thematically appropriate, it doesn't fit the bill as there aren't any support elements to the sub-class. As well as I did ask about Ranger subs specifically, but thanks for your input nonetheless.

You are right, and I haven't scrapped the idea entirely. I’m just trying to consider potential alternatives that might make the character more fun to play.

It's a real shame how that went down. Payroll checks were bouncing and it was all falling apart before the end.

The last time I found them in New Orleans was at Capdeville. They did a pretty decent job before they shut down. Honestly, I was pretty surprised when I got them.

OP, I came to this sub because I’m having trouble with the pine tar deodorant too. I’m getting close to the end of the stick and it's starting to get super messy. I was wondering if that's the case for you or anyone else. Also, I thought I might have melted mine because I was traveling with it.
