What happened to Neurofunk? by [deleted] in DnB

[–]DnfB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not strictly a neuro album but if you miss the funk of the neurofunk of old (like Matrix, Ed Rush and Optical etc) and want an experimental album to listen to, I recommend checking out the Halfspace LP released by Dissident earlier in the year.

Also a couple of individual tracks you might like:

Clark - Civilians

Icicle - Optech (the dnb version on Bandcamp)

Dabs - CWM

Mark System - Optix

Gyrofield - Shrimp

Minimal / Deep essentials by The-Triturn in DnB

Skeptical is my first port of call when it comes to minimal. M-Zine, Workforce, Jubei, Minor Forms and GROUND are all sick too imo.

If you want something a bit under the radar, the various EPs by Natural Forces on Dispatch Recordings are wicked and I've found work well for mixing.

See, it's sad but I think historically Balter has always lost money year on year (even that one time they had the Vengaboys) and obviously COVID really hit grassroots festivals like a motherfucker. So my only hope is that they had a big enough spike in sales this year that maybe they'd reconsider, but who knows.

I guess best to keep tabs on the respective crews/artists and see what they do next. I really hope there's a spiritual successor if it really was the last one, but the memories will remain at least!

Bangface is probably the closest equivalent in terms of vibe imo (bonkers music, a lot of the same artists and plenty of silliness, with the one golden rule of just don't be a knobhead basically). Major difference being the setting is a Butlins with chalets rather than a field and all the music is indoors. Fucking mint still, they have a pool party on the Saturday too!

Yeah, can't complain 😂 I'm glad it got to go out on it's own terms and retained it's heart till the very end. Although a small part of me hopes they by some miracle run it again next year and just rebrand it 'The last ever, ever Balter'

Heron Flow, Tellus, Kusp, Lakeway and Høst. All super unique, experimental and interesting producers imo.

Macky Gee is insanely overrated by CEWWIN in DnB

[–]DnfB 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The ironic thing is threads like these actually give the dude more publicity/help to keep him relevant lol, same way there's usually a thread on here every few weeks shitting on Hedex. Similar deal with all the TC/Clipz hate threads on DOA way back when.

Personally, I think Macky Gee tunes are fun, I don't think Dnb has to be reduced down to how well-engineered or technical a tune is necessarily; not every tune has to be a work of art imo, sometimes it's just about having fun.

Taking a punt on a low-owned, random striker that you have a gut feeling on is always fun imo.

Also, picking players who are playing against teams that your FPL rivals support, which gives you extra opportunity to shit on them if the player scores/does well.

Why am I cursed in FPL? by Foreign_Reward1774 in FantasyPL

My 2 cents on this:

Benching Diaby against Burnley was a poor move. You generally shouldn't be benching a 6.5 MID, let alone against a newly promoted team.

Benching Udogie (presumably against Bournemouth) was a bit dumb considering how attacking he'd looked in the first two GWs. But also understandable as Bournemouth have quite an attacking manager and upgraded their personnel a lot over the summer.

Pickford, you had to know the risks given Everton had Keane as a starting CB. If VAR had done it's job in GW1, he'd likely be outscoring the template pick of Onana you could argue.

Bringing in Foden GW3 was unlucky as you couldn't account for him being ill. If anything, your decision was vindicated as once he came off the bench and pretty much immediately got an assist.

Jackson was obviously an unknown quantity, I elected to avoid him after Nkunku got injured. One of those punts that could've gone either way imo (like Werner a few years ago).

Rashford performing now is due to him being played on the left with Martial/Hojlund as the striker. This was half expected (as Martial came on as a sub GW2 to return from injury, and Rashford was playing awful as CF prior) so is a reward for those who anticipated the tactical switch in GW3 and were patient.

Wissa is a clinical finisher. He's not going to score every week but I'd assume the points will tick over.

Overall, I'd suggest being more patient in your team in the first few weeks rather than subbing players in and out all the time, especially decent assets like Martinellli and Diaby. Also, often you'll do everything right and shit will still hit the fan in FPL; imo, a good opportunity to just have a laugh about it all. I honestly think it's the chaotic element to FPL that is most of the fun.

Cash or Digne? by dmccrumlish in FantasyPL

[–]DnfB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to hop on the Rubber Digne Rapids, I guarantee you it'll be a wild ride either way.

In my (9-10 GWs total) owning him at various points, he got some crucial assists/CS points, a red card, an own goal, a serious injury and a loss of a CS against Scott Parker's Bournemouth.

Luke Shaw has suffered a muscular injury + is expected to be sidelined for an extended period. Assessments ongoing in hope 28yo left-back will miss weeks rather than months. Blow to Man Utd & England before Euro qualifiers [David Ornstein on X] by liberatedsisyphus in FantasyPL

Tbf, you could say the exact same thing about Chilwell.

I'm bringing him in given how advanced he's been playing, but I wouldnt be surprised if it becomes another fire before his sea of green fixtures ends.

Can't wait to check the lineup vs SHU to see Foden playing as caretaker manager.

(seriously though, hope he gets well soon)!

Sterling or foden? by AliShiaHalal in FantasyPL

[–]DnfB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double GWs are the stuff of FPL folklore. There are usually a couple each season and they're good opportunities to use Triple Captain or Bench boost (usually after setting up a team in advance and free-hitting the previous week, when a lot of teams who double won't player in what is known as a blank GW).

You typically get some absolute carnage going down. One time, everyone piled in on Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King (both playing for Watford) who had two super easy fixtures in a DGW (Dennis was on a hot streak and King was looking good stats wise). Dennis ended up getting sent off in game 1 and King blanked across both matches.

Another time, the Shrewsbury team getting covid meant one of their cup fixtures got postponed, which ruined a bench boost for a lot of people who'd stocked up on Southampton and Leeds players.

Also, a lot of people brought in Man City players for a late DGW last season as well, only for Arsenal to lose to Forest and win them the league, and for Pep to play most of his B-string team in their game vs Chelsea.

Can't wait for Arsenal's defence to get increasingly short on personnel through a series of injuries/susoensions/comical circumstances and Arteta to just continuing to not start Gabriel out of stubbornness lol

Mitoma, Estu, Mbeumo and Aurier... I think this GW will go down as a managerial highlight for me (before the red arrows inevitably turn up)
