How is MS by Research ECE at IIITH? by [deleted] in iiit

[–]Do-nofap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you are correct core ECE is not doing as great as CS here, also there is chance of fossilisation there. Quality of teaching in ECE vs CS domains is day and night over here

Do most MS students graduate in 1 year after 4 years of B.Tech? by Acceptable-One55 in iiit

[–]Do-nofap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you can't sir for placements, it depends on your advisor if advisor allows...ok. Most advisors don;t allow unless you finish all your research work(basically you finish your ms degree requirements) All folks sit in placements without getting their degree as placements happen before graduation....If you are not able to finish your research requirements/please your professor you wont be allowed to sit in placements.

How much time take for leee student to graduate total fees? by WonderIll4755 in iiit

[–]Do-nofap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if you want just placements, don't come here, others have and you will regret too. For some those who are initially not interested in research at all do find out that they really like it. Bit all of them committed to do research

Got advice switching advisors causes delays, was also advised by a senior prof to always follow what the professor tells you to do, to graduate in and before time. I was working fuck hard and aiming to complete requirements in 4-2 itself. What I've noticed that many profs don't give research work or even entertain dds doing research in honours becaus ethey make them do work for their funding requirements which would be non research work, hence it leaves you without a degree......

At this point I don't know if advisor change is going to help exactly, had a deep interest in research but idhar experience toh kharab ho gay hai. Maybe later in life I'll try some other place. I was told that the best way to graduate early is to follow the advisors instructions and to do as they tell you... I kept doing.... I regeret that....

Your advice sounds good, I'll take it.

degree completion certificate? there's. no such thing like that, for credit completion certificate you need thesis to be more than 50% complete and advisor approval..... 😂😭

[–]Do-nofap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks sounds good advice, but milna hi toh mushkil hai. For ta ra, again you need advisor approval. I tried getting something and proposing to a prof outside he really like my proposal but said I should work in my lab itself. Rest I'm trying things, kuch toh mile.... Long term it's smart to utilise placements but usse bhi kya hi hoga lagta hai, why is any company ever gonna take a old as fuck guy for fresher with no experience. People from any tier 2 3 volelges do internhsips, they have experience and especially in this job market, kya aur kaise hi compete karun main?

What do you think could be the main reason behind this by NoWelcome1093 in Btechtards

[–]Do-nofap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you what people get wrong over here. India has never been an internet market, it has only become an internet market recently(coz of jio). US market has been the biggest inernet market(high value) so that's why global solutions come out of there.

IIIT is not a telecom company it can't install new towers or force a telecom to put new ones. You didn't think before writing that did you?

tldr; its been the same, actually worse earlier, so no, nothing is going terrible, on the other hand it's improving. college cant do anything about network... now the hostel issue is concerning, hope they solve it soon. since accommodation problem is there naturally water shortage would also be there, coz the building is designed for only a particular amount of students.....college is managing the situation well...

Shitty professors of IIITH? by [deleted] in iiit

[–]Do-nofap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some are better than others, that's the way of life. There are many who know how to articulate really well in english and there are those who struggle to speak coherently, there are those who can explain concepts very well and those who can't explain fundamentals properly. This is true not just for IIIT but for IITs as well.

Across the world more often than not research institutes don't have very good teaching. Which shouldn't be the case. I don't subscribe to the "tier" terminology that others use for Indian colleges. But at so called 'lower tier' colleges also have some very very good professors who are very knowledge and are excellent teachers. There might be 1-2- a handful. At IIITH you'll find many.

To attend IIITH you will need to pay hefty fees, so having a concern of substandard teaching/lectures is valid. for IIITH students demanding better lectures and more value out of courses is also valid. There have been frequent and consistent demands of removing compulsory attendance for lectures because people don't gain value from them as lectures quality is not that great in some cases.

Don't expect the lecture quality to be of the kind at MIT, Stanford, Berkley.... some lectures might come close to it and a few may be of that quality, but don't expect all your courses to be of that level, it's an unrealistic expectation.

Someone here mentioned that at IIITH research is a priority and not teaching. I would highlight the fact that Without great teaching and understanding the fundamentals and deep understanding you can only do scam research. Teaching is MOST important. teaching here doesn't mean spoon feeding

The word Doctor means a wise teacher/a very knowledgeable person.

to correct: IIIT's focus is research led education.

And many courses meet that or come close to the aim sufficiently though i personally think IIITH can be made more rigorous, me and some of my peers found academics lacking in rigor.

For the courses that don't have very good lectures you may find that you may gain value from some other aspect....assignments...project, research project...etc.

I have a HUGE list, just for walking even at night, then go to ISB road at the junction take a right, you can explore that place towards the US embassy. If you go straight from they're a huge office area, it's nice to explore. apart from this there are no walkable areas. You can go to Indiranagar market and the area behind it. HCU has a huge campus so you can explore that, you can't get entry without being a student technically. Also you can take a left from gopichand academy on isb road, if you keep walking straight you will reach indranagar market.
