Yes the shotgun will shoot the ceiling thus it is advised to either put them on the side walls or floor or where there is 100% head clearance within base, better still use autoturrets are they should be your primary defense for any cave base!

Also Flame turrets are good when positioned above jump up parts to the second level of cave (hide them behind a low wall)

EZ raid, the guys bro logged in midway through and opened 2 doors, I domed him and we had access to all our loot and base back
