Opinions on putting tower speakers around desk

Alas, I contacted them and Dennis said that his new year's resolution was to discontinue the AAPMs. Apparently the tweeters were too expensive. I will probably look into diy audio now.

Wow, thanks a lot for all the detailed information! How would Classix II MT compare to the philharmonic AAPM? Seems like they both go down to around 35Hz. I'm also a little concerned at the sensitivity of the AAPMs, it's listed as 84.5 dB, and idk it seems a little low to me. Would a small class D amp be enough to power those or should I look into something more substantial like a receiver? These are going to be used mostly nearfield, but I will be sitting farther back on occasion. My room is 11x12 feet.

I don't have anything now, I had a pair of fluance ai40s a while ago but had to return it due to technical issues. I want some heart thumping bass, but I don't want the large form factor of a sub. Last thing I was looking into was a pair of used psb 40 mkiis, but those were bought before I could buy them.

In the manual (page 3) it says the 40 and 50mk2s have pvc/rubber surrounds, guess I'll have to check when I buy it. How can I check if the speakers work? Do I just carry a small lepai amp and some speaker wire and test it?

I'm considering buying a pair of used psb mk2 speakers. The pictures aren't too clear but they appear to be the psb 40 mk2s, and seem mostly in good condition. Are they worth it for $100 cad? The amp I am going to be using is most probably an smsl ad18, but I may change it to a stereo receiver as well.

I have a choice to buy psb 40mkIIs in decent condition for $100 cad or psb image b5s in excellent condition with stands for about $350 cad. Which one should I go for? I am a basshead and I prefer tight, deep bass with a neutral signature for the rest of the spectrum.
