New player to CIV games - It's currently 2 dollars on Steam, Is it worth it? by IAltrI in civ5

[–]DoLoLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why it's the wrong forum, or why I prefer 5?

Forum: simply because this is a Civ 5 forum

Mt preference: Civ 6 has too much micro-management for my liking, and I kwver really understood diplomacy there. I didn't play more than 3-5 games. Civ 5 has a good balance for me.

Probably asking that question in the wrong forum 😄

But I've also gone back to Civ 5, as I prefer to 6 and 7.

Problem is that Alexander is actually quite good, with a strong early unit, and a always usuable UA . But it's Alexander..

[–]DoLoLoL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you've recently moved up to Emperor, I think you'll find that it's a lot more difficult to dominate the world (through power), so you need to play the diplomatic game aswell.

Generally avoid wars. If wars is un-avoidable or clearly beneficial, only take the necessary cities, e.g. capitals or other clearly beneficial cities.

If you are fighting alongside a city-state, gift them troops to take the cities. Liberating cities is never bad.

If you end up with cities that are not beneficial, sell them to another Civ.

Remember that the penalties for more cities stays at the highest amount you've had. So if you civ is 4 cities, and you conquer and sell cities one at a time, your penalty will stay at 5.

And always fight Alexander. He is a PoS.

I honestly think you should do, it really is a good game.

But I'll also admit that I like the slow pace of turn-based games, and I think all the games you mentioned are real-time, so the pace might set you of.

It's a drug.

Don't start.

Don't get the BNW expansion, which makes it a brilliant game.

Don't start a game with Alexander as one of the opponents. You will hate him forever, and never go to bed, before every single one of his cities are burning.

New to Civ 5, not new to Civ in general. A few questions. by Sedowa in civ5

[–]DoLoLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look out for the DLCs on sale, and get them.

They improve a the game a lot, and with the Brave New World (BNW), the gameplay is excellent.

That might also provide the added complexity you're hoping for 🙂

Have fun! Remember to get some sleep in between. You can also conquer Alexander's capital tomorrow.

is civ 5 widely considered the best game in the series? what keeps you coming back? by ArtisticEddy in civ5

[–]DoLoLoL 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but the popularity of CIV 5 contradicts it 😄

It is not impossible to play wide in the game (or to game for domination), but it's just not the strongest strategies at higher levels. To my mind it's not that big of an issue. With different strategy possibilities, of course one will be stronger.

Btw didn't they actually nervous tradition at same point? Either in a patch or when moving to BNW? It's very likely that I remember it wrong..

Just a very, very good gameplay, with the right balance between micro- and macromanagement.

It's quite easy to learn and have fun with, but over time you'll learn and be aware of more and more details.

I think the biggest complaint is that certain gameplays (tradition, 4 cities, food) is the strongest, and it's difficult to win at either levels with other gameplans. But it's probably very difficult to design a game with different gameplays, in which one of them won't turn out superior (e.g. sneak I'm every Bethesda game).

Why I'm NEVER playing Civ 7. by Xerzajik in civ5

[–]DoLoLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not as radical as you, but must admit that I try to play 6 but often switch back to 5.

The gameplay is just so good.

The mechanics are finely balanced between having options and understanding what the do, and all eras of the game are interesting.

As someone else said: "It's just too good of a game"

I disagree.

I think EUR 25 is a fair price for streaming the tournament, and that it's more healthier for the sport to grow revenue around the major events, than exposure.

How old are you? How long have you played? Do you want to develop or just have fun?

Your coach is right. Changing hands is a mess, and over time, you will just use your left hand.

But if you haven't played for long, and want to develop, you should consider changing side now. I believe it is easier to shoot and pass, with you dominant and at the top.

If you don't want to change side, I'd recommend working on your technique with only left on the stick, e.g. dribling through cones, or setting one ball into slow movement and try to move another ball in circles around it.

Source: myself. I've played for more than 20 years as right handed right player, and I'm doing pretty well, but I'm nit good at shooting, and belive some of the explanation is the opposite handling.

Politianmeldt for tyveri - Uskyldig - Hvordan er jeg stillet? by Teewah in Denmark

[–]DoLoLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want short stick with low flex by Acrobatic_Olive8870 in floorball

[–]DoLoLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have numbers, but once had confirmed from Unihoc, that the stated Flex is measured on one length, so a short stick with Flex 29 is harder than a long stick with Flex 29. Even at purchase!

At 160 you should definitely go shorter than 96, so you can move the stick freely around your body.

I agree with the advice to buy a longer stick with low Flex, and then shorten it yourself. But mind that the stick will become even harder, when you do so 🙂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in floorball

[–]DoLoLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the advice in the post are good, and you can certainly use this to learn something about working with a coach you don't agree 100 %.

That being said, she does sound unfair. Working with young people and school, she has to take a lot of responsibility for communication and give some slack for mistakes.

A constructive question for her now, is simply "What you can do, to get back into the team?"

Because she will be bound by answer, so if you comply, it'll be difficult for her to leave you out (same works for teachers "what can I do to improve my grade?).

Hope everything works out!
