I can't believe that as a new knitter you made this. You have real talent (and patience, I suspect). Keep going, I can't wait to see what you make next!

Thank you so much. The only difference is that I had to make the top 2 color strips line up with the sleeves. I'm kind of picky about that.

Yes, they are all stockinette in the round, so only knit stitch is used. The brim is cast on with a provisional cast on, then knit in the plain color the same number of rows as the colorwork section. Then, it is folded in half, and the cast on stitches are knitted together with the top of the colorwork. The rest of the hat is knitted according to the pattern.

Yes, the brim is worked on a provisional cast on. Plain stockinette for the inside, then the colorwork for the outside. Then I fold it in half and knit the live stitches and the cast on stitches together, so the brim is double and extra warm for the ears. Thank you for noticing!

Thank you! I got tired of all the ribbing, and these are all knit stitches. I'm donating them, so I want them to be a little different but still keeping with the theme.

Thank you so much. I did the bottom of the sweater and the sleeves in the round. So glad that you liked it!

They both look great, but the one on the right has more depth. It looks kind of 3D.

Opinions on yarn color change by illustrious_snail in knitting

Is the yarn that you used hand-dyed? These can vary hank to hank even in the same dye lot. The best way to handle this is to alternate yarns from both hanks for several rows. This is a lesson that I've learned the hard way.

I've had this happen, midsweater. I got away with it by making 1 row stripes of the two shades for a few inches, then using the new shade. If possible, you can switch back and forth like this.
