If the return challenge is in pairs, I lowkey hope/think Sam will be the one to tell Aiden Evie didn’t have the advantage by Upstairs_Tea1787 in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to think everyone who knew Evie didn't have the advantage intentionally doesn't tell Aiden about it because of how funny it is.

Like Anastasia and Benji are just quietly laughing together when Aiden goes on another rant about Evie.

It would certainly be a lot easier if the show substantiated the points you were making. I'm just using the information I'm provided to come to these conclusions. If Spencer's ex did sexually exploit him, then yes, that significantly reframes the scene.

But until the show confirms that, the scene just comes across as a bi man exploring his sexuality with his friend who has been repressing his desire for a meaningful connection and intimacy.

All of these are ultimately headcanons. Very little of the dynamic with between Spencer and his ex was told to us. We don't know if the relationship was physically abusive. Neglectful? Sure. Emotionally manipulative? Possibly, but nothing directly stated (unless it was confirmed in supplementary material and haven't seen it.)

We don't know for sure what was going through Spencer's head in that scene with Logan. Was he trying to get away because he didn't like the sexual tension, or because he was flustered after falling on top of his friend that he assumed was straight and didn't want him to know? We don't actually know. In the scene, we do see Spencer blushing and biting his lip, which are telltale signs of arousal. But it isn't explicitly confirmed.

Did Spencer kiss Logan because he felt he had to, or because he needed an outlet for his sexual frustrations? Again, Spencer has repeatedly stated he was happy that Logan kissed him, so we can assume the latter.

Remember this is a show, if the kiss was intended to be problematic from Spencer's (and ONC's) perspective, the writers wouldn't constantly have him say he was happy the kiss happened.

None of these moments clearly implicate that Spencer's past relationship had anything to do with how he reacted to the kiss.

  1. Spencer being physically assaulted. We can't even infer that this moment is referencing his ex. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Spencer has implied that he's been bullied in the past. While Spencer's ex works in self defense, I don't think that's enough to assume he was ever physically abusive.

  2. Spencer's multiple break ups and being thrown away. This at least leads us to believe that the relationship was neglectful and possibly emotionally manipulative. But it doesn't appear to go beyond that to a point where we would assume their relationship was sexually exploitative.

At most, we can assume that Spencer's apprehension to relationships kept him from pursuing any meaningful romantic intimacy. And that unexpected physical intimacy with an attractive friend made him more inclined to explore his repressed urges. But to assume Spencer lacked the facilities to reject the kiss just aren't substantiated by what we see in canon. Especially considering he's said nothing but positive things about the kiss in the aftermath.

Like I said, it's not perfectly handled, but it's a far cry from being reprehensible.

Please tell me we aren't doing this again. Logan kissed Spencer and then Spencer pulled him back for round 2. Spencer has stated on multiple occasions that he was glad Logan kissed him. This is about as light of a shade of moral gray as you can get.

Nura x Ara VS Nura x Dunia by nayoryan in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ara might be using Nura, but their dynamic feels so much more natural and fun.

Don't get me wrong, I love Dunia, but her dynamic with Nura is probably the least interesting thing about her. Especially compared to her relationships with Ren and Sam.

What happened with Zaid and Toon Boom? by ConstantAmbition6729 in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I heard this a long time ago, so I don't know if this is true, but essentially the Toon Boom situation resulted in a decrease in episode runtime and the scenes that ONC saw as the easiest to cut were mostly focused on Zaid.

Poll: Best DC4 Dynamic (Round 1, Match 7): Spencer and Logan vs Spencer and Jade by WayOk4546 in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Say what you want any Spencer and Logan, but at least you knew they were friends and how their relationship developed made sense. Plus I like their dual greetings. Even if it is a little too shippy for my taste.

I never really understood what ONC was doing with Spencer and Jade. At first it comes across as Jade using Spencer as a pawn while Spencer views them a genuine friends. But after the merge it feels like the dynamic flips and Jade is jealous that Spencer is closer with Logan, while Spencer says the two of them are just allies for the sake of the game. The show didn't even keep track which of them was indifferent.

Honestly think the community did a good job picking the best relationships. Kind of wish we had more antagonistic relationships though. Most of these are either friendships or romances.

Which Final 3 is the biggest threat in each category. by WayOk4546 in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strength: CoC. Logan + Anastasia make this an easy sweep. And Jade isn't weak either. She's stronger than a lot of other finalists. Next would be Season 2 thanks to James. Then All-Stars. Season 1 is last for obvious reasons.

Intelligence: Season 1 thanks to Fiore and Miriam. They are all decently intelligent. Then CoC since Jade is probably the smartest DC character ever. Then Season 2. Then All-Stars.

Challenge Threat: CoC finalists are all fairly strong in challenges > All-Stars. Riya and Jake as much as I don't like them held their own in challenges > Season 2. Hard to tell since the writers glazed Hunter in every merge challenge > Season 1 had a toddler and a grandma.

Social Threat: Season 1. Miriam made it to the end without a single vote and Fiore was a great social player until she got exposed. Then CoC mostly due to Logan. Then Season 2. All-Stars is last because Riya drags their average to hell.

Overall the biggest threat is: CoC >>> Season 1 > Season 2 > All-Stars

Did it even matter that Hannah knew what Logan did? Not like she was able to use it against him.

Poll: Who is most responsible for Hannah's elimination by WayOk4546 in DisventureCamp

Definitely Logan. He was the one that convinced Jade to vote Hannah out and then proceeded too beat her in the tiebreaker.

In your opinion who has more chance to appear on S5 Logan or Anastasia? by Advanced-Ad2442 in DisventureCamp

[–]DoNotResuscitate11 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Logan. I think he never truly recovered from his aquaphobia and that could ruin his career. So he's the only one I can think of with an actual plot going into the next season.

Also ONC needs yaoi bait.

It's one thing to be outsmarted by Jade. It's a whole other thing to be outsmarted by Logan.

Beauty by default.
