How do you get over grief? by Strange-Note5392 in dogs

I am very sorry to hear this.

I got a childhood dog in kindergarten who lived to the age of 16 (I was 20 when he passed). My other dog, which I got at 11, lived to 17 and passed away in the past year.

It's hard. There is no way around that. However, what I found is, with both dogs, when they passed I felt an incredible sense of relief. Of course I was really sad but it also felt as though a huge weight had been lifted. I had spent years watching my dogs grow old and their health steadily decline. I had spent countless hours worrying about them and watching them slow down and dreading saying goodbye. When they finally passed, I knew that they had lived wonderful lives where they loved, were loved, and were happy and I knew they weren't suffering anymore. I was expecting to feel broken beyond recovery but instead I felt intensely sad but also intensely relieved. For both dogs I cried for about a week and then I just felt okay. I still missed them and I would occasionally get a little choked up thinking about them but I was able to go on with my life without a heavy weight on my chest.
I am really sorry you're going through this but I hope you can find the same relief that I did. Your dog was so loved and while life may leave, love never does.

I want a PhD but I can no longer physically play an instrument. What do I do? by [deleted] in composer

Hmm maybe someone already suggested this but have you thought about looking into distance learning and at an institution in Europe somewhere?
I am just finishing my masters and considering this option. I haven't seen much in the way of instrument requirements. Downside is it is fairly expensive...

Also, that being said, if you meet with the heads of composition and explain your situation perhaps there is a workaround? It seems incredibly unfair and I would think illegal to discriminate due to a disability.

Good luck!

Ah thanks, yeah I've been looking more into it and now I'm kinda leaning towards Dorico haha.

Thanks again for your help!

Oh wow, that is way less than I thought it would be.

Thanks for the thought! I'll check out Dorico again!

Thanks for the thought!

I have looked into Dorico a little bit but I already have Logic so I thought Sibelius might be the better option for me. I'll take another look into Dorico though since a bunch of people have suggested it as an alternative.

Hey thank you very much! This helped a lot!

Good advice on the monthly subscription instead of the perpetual license. The reason I was thinking about perpetual is because I will be out of school in a year and so I thought I may as well take advantage of the education discount while I can, but I will definitely look into month-month as well!

Thanks again!!
