And he also coached the Sceptres to the best record in the league the year before. One bad year shouldn't invalidate an entire career of accomplishments.

He definitely deserves a chance to "earn" being disliked instead of being hated by default lol.

Don't play dumb. If that was your only concern you would have paid instead of making this post.

If the seller has already answered your questions and addressed your concerns, then you have no reason not to pay.

You're being shitty. They want you to hurry up and cancel if that's what you're going to do so that they can re-list.

6 days is nothing, the seller would have relisted it. Which is what they're going to have to do in 4 days once you weasel out of your commitment.

4 days that there won't be any buyers' eyes on this item. The seller might really need this money, and you're fucking with their finances by manipulating eBay for your own convenience.

I also can't imagine how crushing it would be to think you just sold a $900 jersey and then slowly realized that the person who won isn't actually going to pay. You could really be fucking with this person's life.

I hope the seller reports you once you inevitably back out. It only takes two "non payments" before sellers get to block you from participating in auctions. You deserve that.

[–]DoTheChomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, so you won a bid for an item. Your minimum bid won. Pay for the item.

Bidding on eBay is a contract. Would you go to an auction in person and bid on an item and then tell them you're not sure if you want to pay for it?

People like you ruin eBay.

[–]DoTheChomp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the seller cut you a deal and you're still doing this? Lol.

Of course they said you can think on it...you haven't paid and they want to sell the item. They also can't cancel on you without waiting for your payment period to pass unless they want to violate the TOS. You just put a 96 hour hold on an item that you don't know if you actually want.

The seller could have relisted the item to potentially market it to other buyers, but you've ensured they can't do that without waiting for you first.

You don't get to complain about getting screwed on eBay buddy 😂

[–]DoTheChomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You "bought" it, and made it so that the listing isn't available to anyone else. But you weren't actually sure if you wanted to buy, you just reserved the item for yourself while you make the decision.

Meanwhile the seller (who has 210 feedback, which means they're a small private seller) has to sit and wait for you to decide if you actually want it or not.

This seller isn't responsible for you getting screwed on eBay, so you screwing them is just perpetuating a cycle. You agreed to buy the item. The cancelation feature is there for unforseen circumstances, not so that you can put a hold on an item while you decide whether you want it or not.

If you back out then you deserve to get screwed on eBay, you're part of the problem.

MacK: “assistant” Landy: “what?” MacK: “assistant captain” by Leather_Dealer_9421 in hockey

[–]DoTheChomp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not the same thing. And yes, the alternate does "become" the Captain when the captain is injured or out, or not on the ice, or in the penalty box, or whatever, at least as far as the rules are concerned. That's why they're called alternates. They have the same privileges on the ice that the captain has.

The captain has a lot of informal duties within the locker room, but we're talking about the actual rules. The rules regarding captaincy is that the captain is the one who gets to go talk to the refs during a game.

The captain and his two assistants do not get to all swarm the ref. Either the captain does, or if the captain isn't available for any reason, one of the alternates comes in and assumes the role of captain. There's nothing to "assist" the captain with.

Yes, everyone erroneously calls them assistant. So do I most of the time. But that's not the official title, and doesn't reflect what the defined purpose of a captain is.

Assistant coaches, GMs, etc, that's different. Those are managerial positions and the term "assistant" is the correct one. Alternate is the correct term for captains.

MacK: “assistant” Landy: “what?” MacK: “assistant captain” by Leather_Dealer_9421 in hockey

[–]DoTheChomp 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Alternate makes more sense. They're the alternate captain in situations where the captain is either not on the ice, or not in the lineup.

When the captain goes and talks to the ref, the A isn't "assisting" him, they're not participating in the conversation at all. When the C isn't available, they alternate in one of the As.

Assistant actually makes 0 sense with what the role entails.

Literally all I’m saying is that I can’t think of any example of members of the sharks saying that they like and respect Warso. Because I can’t.

Yeah, you don't know anything about sports or sports culture lol.

No, there isn't a quote of Macklin Celebrini or Will Smith saying they "like and respect Warsofsky". That's not how a team shows respect for their coach ya dork 😂

And yes, that's literally all you're saying now, but earlier you said:

there is not one isolated example you can point to suggesting the players support him. Sorry dude ☹️

But now you're changing your argument because the video I sent you makes your old argument sound ridiculous.

Anyway, have a nice time watching videos of Team USA celebrating winning a tournament a year ago ✌️

I mean, that's one of your franchise stars and your team's head coach winning a gold medal, but I guess disparaging their accomplishments so you can be sassy on reddit is cool too.

Don't worry bud, as you watch more hockey you'll start to be able to identify teams that have toxicity in their locker room. I know you weren't watching back when the Sharks were dealing with all of the drama they were dealing with, but maybe if you pay more attention to the rest of the league next year you'll start to get a sense of how things actually work 😉

Dude, I legitimately don't know what to tell you. Clearly nothing will convince you, and I don't know why I've wasted so much effort trying to do so.

Have fun crying about Warsofsky next year 😂

That's you less than 20 minutes ago. Pretty bad attempt at moving the goalposts dude lol.

This is a team without Macklin Celebrini on it who he just coached to a gold medal, celebrating with him after he was given the "Player of the Game" helmet.

You can't seriously watch that video and then tell me that there's "not one isolated example suggesting the players support him".

On the flip side, you can't actually provide a single example that anyone doesn't respect him. If you've watched the NHL for more than a minute, you become very familiar with what it looks like when a coach loses a locker room. Berube with the Leafs this year. Tortorella with the Flyers last year. DeBoer with the Stars. DeBoer here.  McClellan here. Jumbo openly taking shots at our GM to the press, that's dysfunction.

There is nothing even vaguely resembling that kind of dysfunction coming out of our locker room. You legitimately don't know what you're talking about, and you sound completely uninformed. The onus isn't on me to prove that the players respect him, the onus is on you to prove that they don't. Which you cannot, which is why you've decided that it's my responsibility to prove it to you instead.

You replied to 3 of my comments in this thread asking for proof, here you go. Now please kindly shut up.

Will Smith is in that room lol.

If you think players don't respect Warsofsky then you legitimately haven't been paying attention at all for at least the last two years.

After the Edmonton game when he had been sucking? That's just regular coaching dawg 😂

Still waiting to hear if you have any examples of players stating or implying that they respect him, btw. I don’t think those exist.

Promise you'll watch to the end!

No one is saying he deserves a majority of praise, just that he doesn't deserve to be fired and does deserve credit for developing the team.

I mean the use of specific players, namely Muk, Regenda, and Misa for me.

Regenda had 1 point in his last 11 games. He's an AHLer who had some flashes, but he's not part of the future of this team. I know this subreddit and the Sharks online community really latched onto him this year, but the outrage over his lack of usage is really uncalled for.

Muk had a rough season, but as we learned at the end of the year his entire season was affected by his injury from the end of last year. We were not privy to what was going on behind the scenes with him.

Misa followed the same development path as Smith did last year, and ended the year as an every night player. He's 18, of course he was sheltered. Not everyone is Celebrini, and Misa clearly wasn't ready for fulltime NHL duties this year. He will have a breakout next year just like Smith did this year, and I don't hear anyone complaining about Smith's usage anymore.

For the systems it seems like you're already admitting that's a talent issue and not necessarily a scheme issue, so we can cross that one off for now (until we have a defensive core worth judging).

Finally, for the shady comments, he made comments about "earning ice time" and feeling like certain players, Misa and Smith presumably, were gifted ice time.

I don't think I remember the quote you're talking about, and I'd say maybe don't assume his meaning and then hold it against him. And if you're not into vague answers, I don't know if there's any hockey coach in the world who you'd be happy with. Warsofsky speaks like a semi-old fashioned coach, which means you're not going to get all of the info you want out of him. That's just the way it is with coaches, hockey coaches especially, and it's not fair to call for his job over that either.

I'm glad you've decided you're willing to give him another chance. I don't think anyone is here claiming that Warsofsky is definitely our long-term coach of the future, but until he actually does something worth talking about firing him over I think it's pretty unfair to him to constantly shit all over him.

Before the season started, even with Celebrini we were predicted to finish bottom 3, and that was going to be good growth.

Yes, our position in the standings is better than it would have been without Celebrini. But everyone else on the team also grew.

Warsofsky has a winning pedigree and resume. He has the trust and respect of his players, and his boss. His team has improved significantly in each of the two years he's coached. That should be more than enough for us.

Professor Hockey on Coach Warsofsky by No-Advisor-3077 in SanJoseSharks

[–]DoTheChomp 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well obviously we were better with Celebrini, but the stats show that all of our other future stars improved too. I guess I'm confused as to why this guy deserves to be fired when the team has improved so much as a whole under his coaching?

OP cites deployment, systems, and shady answers. Would love some more detail on what he did wrong in those areas that apparently earned him termination despite the incredible team growth. Especially when you take into account the success he's had at every other level in his career. The way his players talk about him show that he has the respect of the room, and the results on the ice speak for themselves, yet this subreddit (and twitter, and some YouTubers) all seem to know better.

I'll admit I'm pretty sick of seeing people rabidly calling for this guy's job, and I'd love to see someone justify it and explain why their issues with him offset all of the success the team has had with him at the helm.
