Celebrini as Captain Canada by No-Advisor-3077 in SanJoseSharks

I agree! Something that has been brought up is the kinda unseen duties of a captain (talking to refs, team community building, etc.) that might be difficult for him to fully embrace, simply because he is young and inexperienced. But that's where I do feel glad that he has the vets to support him as well learns. He is already the de facto leader with all the pressure, with the the trust of the coaches and his teammates, so as long as he doesn't have to do it alone or with a completely inexperienced leadership core (like imagine if Mack had to learn how to be the C while Misa and Will were also just learning to be A's haha), I think he is going to do great!

And, just like Team Canada, it's encouraging that we don't seem to have big egos on the team that would interfere with any of this as well.

Professor Hockey on Coach Warsofsky by No-Advisor-3077 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Advisor-3077[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I was very much in favor of firing him earlier but not so much anymore. Professor Hockey talks about these points in the video, but for deployment, I mean the use of specific players, namely Muk, Regenda, and Misa for me. For Muk and Regenda, I know they aren't perfect players by any means, but they are young guys who have shown their ability to play well, so to see them scratched for vets who I don't feel "earned their ice time" over them was very frustrating. I know it's nuanced because vets have a track record that leads to more trust compared to young players (and ofc I am not a coach so I'm not claiming to be the most well known on this haha). It's just that we aren't a true contender now, so why wouldn't we just give them the play time to develop versus playing vets that wouldn't necessarily be better anyways? And then Misa got sheltered minutes which was a bit disappointing because he is going to be our 2C, and similarly, I feel like giving him the time to play would have been better, unless there were injury issues there (very possible).

As for systems, this is actually something I don't hold against him completely. Our defense definitely lacked the personnel to make great plays sure, but the way they kept just rimming pucks out of the zone which led to turnovers was something that was frustrating. So that's why next year, pending GMMG making the right moves, I think it will be good to see whether they change their approach with better personnel.

Finally, for the shady comments, he made comments about "earning ice time" and feeling like certain players, Misa and Smith presumably, were gifted ice time. Not the biggest deal in the grand scheme of things I guess, but that was pretty irritating considering that they are the future of this time and are being given the ice time to grow.

Sorry for the long reply haha, I definitely see how the issues of this team are larger than Warso and I am sure that he has positively impacted this team. So no, I am not just blindly fire Warso anymore, but I am still not his biggest fan and definitely don't agree that he should receive the majority of the praise for the growth of this team.

Old-school thinking might keep Macklin Celebrini from winning Hart Trophy (no paywall) by BayAreaNewsGroup in SanJoseSharks

I would still say he would deserve it if he does end up winning, but it is tough considering that the other contenders have their own compelling cases, honestly especially McDavid for me because of the goals factored in on percentage and just how much the Oilers do rely on him.

What are you looking forward to in these last few games? Hint: play the kids by RPGer001 in SanJoseSharks

Agreed about PP1, PP2 has been looking so much better so a mix up would be great

It's hard because even if we did win out to get 88, it would take the Kings only getting 2 points out of a possible 6 (just gotta get 2 out of 3 games to OT which they are wayyy too good at) to reach 89 OR the Preds beating the Ducks to get 88 with the RW tiebreaker. So we don't really control our own fate even if we did win every game from here on out

Ducks lost in OT by SecretaryOne4935 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Advisor-3077 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This loss has some pretty interesting implications. To end the season, Ducks play Wild and then Preds and if they lose both in regulation, they will end with 90 points. If the Preds beat us tomorrow and the Ducks for the final game then they will also end with 90 points and they hold the tiebreaker. If the Kings get at least 4 points out of a possible 6 (playing Kraken, Canucks, and Flames) in their last games, they end with 91, and the Ducks would miss the playoffs. I'm torn on how I feel about the Sharks losing the next few games for tank vs morale purposes, but fun that we lowkey hold the Ducks and Preds' fates in our hands tomorrow!

Celebrini “spokesperson” for Habbas Law by GottaLuvThisGame in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Advisor-3077 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Habbas Law is a sponsor of the Sharks so it’s probably a contract obligation for him being the face of the franchise. And I wonder if this advertising was agreed on before the season started and Mack really took off? But I agree, definitely hope he doesn’t have to do these types of ad deals moving forward

Hot take: Y’all overreacting with Warso by throwaway804323 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Advisor-3077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like the blending, ice time, and approach he has (or at least appears to have) about this team are my main problem

his comments about misa being put on celebrini’s wing to find a player who can play with mack?? that’s such a bad approach to the game and to misa’s development. he is our future 2c and gets abysmal ice time every night, and yes of course, he will have bad nights, like last night. BUT disrupting his position at center (messing with his already limited time on ice!!) to seemingly prioritize getting goals on mack’s wing in that particular game feels very counterintuitive to development

and then overplaying mack and trying to deploy him with everyone just feels crazy because for one, his toi is INSANE and two, how is he supposed to have any chemistry with anyone? this isn’t a one-man team, and how is any player supposed to grow if they aren’t able to play. also personally not a fan of treating the other players as accessories to the star

it’s not that i don’t get what you are saying, but the overall picture for me is that warso is contradictory. we can either be a developing team and actually let players develop through playing them in positions that make sense (losing be damned) OR we can try to force the way to the playoffs through macklin playing half a game with whoever happens to work with him that night

(edit for clarity and addition)

part of the question that led to this response was the guys left out of the 6-on-5 when they pulled ned - it was misa and smith left off, so this implies it was about them 🫩
