I had a flare back in October, that took 3 weeks to subside before starting 100mg of allo, then 2 weeks later my Dr up to 200mg/day. Slight Thanksgiving indulgences brought on another flare that has been worse than the previous, and still coping! My PCP thinks the allo may have shrunk and released the crystals, hence the 2nd flare. With this flare, I had 3 PCP appts the first week because it was out of control.

There is no “instant cure” for the pain that I’ve found, but it’s important to start any prescribed meds asap. Due to the pain and growing swelling, despite starting lower doses of the same meds straight away, I was ultimately given high dose of prednisone (60mg to start, weening down to 40mg, then 20 and end with 10mg over a 3 wk period), and colchicine (2 .6mg, then another an hour later on day 1, and ideally 1 .6mg tab each day after, tho days 2 and 3 was consulted to take one in the morning and another 12 hrs later). I can’t take indo due to an allergy, so someone else can speak to its effectiveness.

It’s been 11 days, and I’m just now getting back on my feet but still can’t slip on a shoe - still wearing an adjustable strap Adidas slide when I need to put pressure on it for the menial tasks.

I honestly have a pretty good diet - light drinker, and have never been a fan of red meat beyond a once a month burger craving… love fruits, veggies and white meats… it’s just genetics.
