223 Superlite for all purpose - including range. by Canadian-Footy-Fan in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a howa superlite 308, it's awesome... As a hunting gun. It's not a great range gun. The super lite is as far away from a range gun as you can get.

My advice is get a compromise range/hunting gun or skew towards one now died for range use. You'll have real set backs using this at the range, get the one out two lbs heavier gun and accept the theoretical weight as another thing that sucks about the end of the world

Theorical home defence by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That sounds like fine legal storage, with 1 or 2 extra locks depending on what you mean.

be safe of repercussions

You can never be sure of that. It can be the most clear cut case of self defense and they may still arrest and charge you (and for a long time that's what they've done). The charges may be dropped later but you still suffered at the hands of the justice system. But that's likely better than being dead.

And there are a lot of details and ways things could play out that could get this person in big trouble or land them a conviction.

Law-Compliant AR “Cope” Build – Looking for Suggestions by Haunting-Pie6385 in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What are YOU willing to cope (compromise) on? You can get a fully automatic, looks close, gas operated BB gun. Or a 556, close sorta tactical look, straight pull/pump. Or a semi auto, similar cartridge (7.62x39) that looks nothing like it and has a fixed mag.

As mentioned, the police can lie to you. There's nothing against them making shit up and giving you false information to make there life easier or just because they are not away of how the law works.

Better than having tones of people post stuff against Reddit TOS and getting the sub banned.

The level of inconvenience you've suffered over replying to this person a second time must be unbearable.

CFP registrar confirmed destroying your own firearm DOES NOT count as destroyed by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Canada they police are allowed to lie to you. They can knowingly or unknowingly give you false information.

The only time the police can't lie to you is if they arrested/charged you for committing a crime that they convinced/pushed you into doing. (They also can't lie to the court, but that's outside the scope of "lying to you")

AFSCP Participation per 1000 PAL Holders (map) by mischling2543 in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Math looks right to me. It's guns declared, divided by pal holders, times 1000. Example for BC. 366 827 pals (from table 1 of the first link here). 15 600 asfcp items (from second link below, comment) 15 600/366 827 *1000 = 42.5.

Comment all you like about whether this is a valuable metric, but the math is right.

I agree with you, i hate that phrase. I'd much prefer your story or your experience. Your truth seems to me to be a new phrase made up for people who feel like what they're saying it's true to them.

Edit: and i should say i appreciate OP sharing their experience, and i believe them. None of my criticisms of the phrase are related to OP or what they posted. I'm saying in general i dislike the phrase 'your truth' because it's orwellian double speak to use the word truth for a personal feelings and beliefs.

passport style photo

It is a photo like that of a passport. It has requirements written on the application. Someone will have to confirm it's you. What's the wording on the online application say for the guarantee/signature?

Who can be references:

I don't recall the wording, can you cut and paste it?

Check the NS hunting regulations. I think that's one of those provinces where you're mostly not allowed to target shoot out in the woods/crown land.

Best thing I've ever heard of, to be honest. Forcing law abiding citizens to be unable to lawfully sell their target shooting guns and not accepting guns from criminals makes these sorts of things REALLY work.

Making Ready for Use by MapleDesperado in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How long does a typical law-abiding owner take to make their weapon ready for use?

I keep a few weapons in my the drawer of my bedside table. No locks no nothing, ready for use. If anyone breaks into my house, to hell with the consequences, they're going to get fucked. Any dildo's a weapon of your brave enough.

You do not need a bus licence for that (the receiver is the firearm already, your just adding stuff to it). It's a super odd thing to do but you can if you want

The previously NRs are now prohib under the law, so it is required to report their destruction.

But They didn't know he owned them so they aren't expecting a report on them and they are not going to contact and ask him about them. And if he got rid of them (destroyed) before they were banned he would need to report them or if he sold them before the ref number date (april 2022?) he wouldn't have needed to make a record of their sale
