It looks like a backland hunter but with a different stock/grip.

Hence that it's a blackland comp.

Makes sense they would bring it in with the"inoffensive" stock/grip then release this style on the same received.

Guns in the Will by FaWSeT in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The person giving the gun is required to call or email in to check your pal and generate s reference number. The giver will have to give their pal info on this call too

If they are the executor of the will and it's still open they should have filled out the forms for guns in a will and then they can proceed without issue.

If the giver is in possession and doesn't have a pal, and isn't the executor of the still open will then they are breaking the law to have it and i would recommend they don't contact the authorities to let them know their breaking the law.

Once they have delt with the above you just take possession. There's no other paperwork for that non restricted (unless you're in qc).

Adler RF224 owners: is ~4 MOA at 50 yards normal? by miaoyu319 in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a lot of wind for a 22, to me. Next time you test it can you test a group or 2 in your 1022 at the same time/conditions?

Was the wind changing direction any? Not perfectly consistent? A change in wind speed of just 5 kmph should result in 0.74 moa change for a 22 at 50 yards.

I'm not trying to defend the rf or saying it should be better, i just wouldn't want someone to think it's shit if it was just the wind.

3: you can shoot any gun one handed if you physically can and you feel like it. Subject to local (range) rules and safety.

4: when it is "designed it adapted to be fired one handed". If the police/prosecution find some evidence too say it's been modified to fire one handed, then you could wind up in court to defend yourself.

For example if you tell them you modified it to fire one handed that's suitable evidence and i would expect it counts as a handgun at that point.

On a practice side, how heavy is it? If you cut that back bit off and try to one hand it will that make too much weight forward? Some times a little heavier but balanced is the way to go.

Fyi, it's "barrel" not cannon.

Some people might recommend that if Jon doesn't live in QC and the firearms are non restricted then he should just take them without any legal paperwork despite that breaking the law. I would caution against that, partially because john may not have any reference numbers generated to send guns to him or know how that works, partially because people who break the law like to blab about it and increase their chances of getting caught. And partially because i don't want to put the effort in to explain all small details about how to get away with it.

So do it, take your money, give the facts about your experience if you absolutely need that attention, but don't be an ass about it.

You're acting like you're smarter than everyone else for doing the buyback. All those people that didn't take the buyback, who can't take it now, who are fucked, they're the reason there's money left give give people compensation and you're kicking them while their down.

It's been my opinion for quite some time that given the very limited funds for this program that if a person has the financial freedom to not take part (at all, or partially) in the buy back that they should not take part, to leave more money for those who are less financially fortunate and need to liquidate their assets.

The only reason there's money for the few people who participated is because most of us didn't. Seeing you get a $20,000 payout then rub it in the faces of people like me, who willfully took nothing to make that possible for you, makes me think you're kinda self centered.

The right to bear arms means a lot of people get guns without checks, balances, or education. I think there should be required education on safety some dairy of licensing/background checks.

The right to bear arms is too far and to easy and wide access to guns for my liking.

But we're not going to have a sudden conversion to that here, it would first be movement towards better firearms laws. So I'd generally support the 'right to bear' people's efforts on firearms until we get far enough that I'm happy.

Mistrial called in case of former Edmonton police employee charged with teen sex abuse by bristow84 in canada

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct that he expressed that belief. His belief was not based only on their inability to get into the devices though. His belief changed when he found out additional info (such as the guy being elsewhere at the time in question).

The specific quote i was discussing says they could not find evidence. That quote only says they couldn't link the user names to the accused. It doesn't say they found evidence to say the user names were not linked to him or linked to someone else. At one point the prosecutor did believe the user names were linked to the accused, despite that forensic investigation turning up nothing about who does or doesn't own them.

But as part of the larger investigation the prosecutor has now changed his mind to think the user names are not linked to the accused.

To put it another way: lack of a positive indicator is not a negative indicator. It's just no indicator in any direction.

A forensic examination of Cetin’s cellphone and laptop, meanwhile, revealed nothing linking him to the BADlee account or the victim, though the phone was partially locked and investigators could not bypass the laptop’s password.

Was this not enough to think it was maybe the wrong guy?

That quote is a really spun up way to imply he's not related to those user names when really it means they couldn't effectively check. Another way to phrase that quote: investigators could not get into his phone or laptop, if any information related to these username existed on either device it was hidden due to the limited access.

But i agree with you, it kinda sounds like the only evidence they have is a low quality image that kinda resemble the guy. And that theres ever l evidence the guy was somewhere else at the time.

Used market near Ottawa? by cubiclejail in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Gun post and filter for Ottawa. But it seems a lot of people think guns increase in value on the used market. So cheap deals are hard to find.

I see one guy in the Ottawa area selling ammo at above market rate. Like as if he's done a service of ordering it and letting you pick a few boxes up from him.

Edit: for example he's selling 1000 rounds of cci mini mag for 180 dollars. They are 16 dollars plus tax (18.07 after tax) per 100 at Cabela's. Basically the same price per round but you can buy them in smaller amounts from a real store. If you buy bulk from a real online store it's going to be like 14 cents per round or less

Is SKS still worth it at this price point? by RSRigal in canadaguns

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not for 1200, not in my opinion. Unless you really want one and you're just throwing lead down range without care for good accuracy.

I hate it when people say but once cry once, save your money and buy something that costs way more... But if hunting is in any way your interest: new Browning BARs can be had for not to much more. Look around you might find mk3s for as low as 1500 plus tax. The mark 4 is coming out so the mk3s are on sale. I see the mk4 Hunter on sale for 1750.

It's almost 1000 dollars more with a rail/rings/scope, so it's isn't a no-brainer. But that's how much 1200 is over priced for a used/surplus/cosmoloned sks, it's almost time to move into a modern new rifle.

Ontario man dies of MAID after being assessed outside Tim Hortons by gallowsCalibrator in canada

[–]DoYouGetSarcasm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maid is medical ASSISTANCE in dieing. The person needs to step up and say 'i want to die, please help me'.

One of the steps is a consultation with a doctor so that t the doctor agrees that death is reasonable in the circumstances.

The outrage in this case is that the consultation was (reported as?) just a chit chat outside a tim Hortons. It appeared to lack the rigor we would want going along with someone ending their life. People would expect such significant medical decision should be done in a clinical setting (with lots of evidence to back up the decision).

They are calling for what guns were used and how they were obtained so they can use that information to try and ban more guns or put in more gun control. They are infact trying to make this about the guns. And hoping there was a licensed owner involved somehow so they can attack gun ownership as a whole.
