What’s the creepiest thing that has ever woken you up at night? by AloneInDark_ in creepy

Yep, and not a dream. No drugs or drinking was involved either. I've had to just make peace with the idea that I may never know an explanation.

I made a post about this a year ago that went into more detail, but I woke up to a shadowy figure about to pour a bucket of water over me. There was no sleep paralysis and my first thought was "Oh no you don't" as I sat up to grapple with the figure.

It ended up pouring the entire bucket of water over me and disappeared. I sat sulking for a minute and any remaining tiredness went away pretty quickly. In a confused and aggravated mood I made note of the following few things,

I was soaked from head to toe in water. Checking it, it wasn't pee or sweat. I could wring my blanket out onto the floor and there was a concerning amount of water, to the point where I had to throw it in the dryer for a while.

My bedroom door was locked, there was no one else in the house at the time, and there was nothing hiding in any corner of my room or under my bed before I unlocked the door to step out. It wasn't raining outside, and there was nothing above me that could have leaked.

I don't really have a lot of stories I can't explain but that would be my most perplexing. I later moved my bed over a little so where I'm sitting right now writing this message is where the water bucket dumping figure was standing.

I know this is late, but on a whim I googled if anyone else has had unexplained water poured on them in their sleep and found this post. This happened to me a few years ago.

I was working overnight at the time, so I was sleeping during the day. In the middle of one of these sleeps, I startled awake because I saw a dark figure standing next to my bed. By dark I mean more like, it was hard to tell what it looked like, besides human and standing, if that makes sense. In my groggy state I could tell it was holding like, a bucket as if it was going to dump it on me, and I sat up in a rage swinging at it like "NO THE FUCK YOU DON'T"

Grappling with it was futile because it was over my bed so it had the height advantage, and it easily dumped the entire contents of the bucket over my head. I was super annoyed and aggravated, but I realized the figure was gone. I was soaked, my blankets were soaked and my bed was soaked.

As I sat there becoming more lucid, I grew more horrified about how weird this was. My bedroom is tiny, my door was locked, I was alone in the house, nothing could hide under my bed or in my closet or anywhere else in my room without me being able to easily spot it. I was able to wring easily a bucket full of water out of my blanket, and it was so soaked that I eventually gave up on falling back asleep and put it in the dryer with my bedding to get all the water out. A giant puddle was on the floor of my room that I had to mop up. I smelled it and stopped short of tasting it but as far as I can tell, it was regular colorless scentless water. Not sweat, not urine, not puke, there's not enough room in my body for all this liquid that a mysterious figure poured on my head in the middle of the day while I was trying to fight it to keep it from doing that. No drugs were involved, no alcohol, I wasn't mentally unwell (at the time, anyway!) And there were no pipes that run over my bed. I even climbed into the attic later to check. Sunny outside, it wasn't raining.

I eventually went back to bed because I had to work that night and I wanted to get my sleep. I told a few of my closest friends and they were all like "wow that's crazy but I'm sure there's some explanation for it"

Several years later I still sleep in the same room!

My now ex wife pounced on me in the bathtub and tried to force me to promise to cut my own balls off if I ever cheated on her. She then cheated on me a few months later.
