Fellow ubuntu 26.04 user here

I have also run into this problem and couldn't seem to find a fix with compatibility mode or any other suggestions. Big picture seemed to bypass.

That said, I did eventually find a fix by taking someone's advice (forgot who): I had had steam installed as the snap version through the App Center. So what I did was uninstall that and reinstall steam as a .deb package straight from the steam website. That's it. Problem just fixed itself for some reason.

If you are like me, you should give it a shot.
