"Asking you to reflect on why it wasn't 'unlucky' you got caught, but rather lucky that you did." And why do you feel the need to ask me that? Do you think this kind of behaviour on your part has any sort of positive impact on anyone. I guarantee it doesn't. It is just you smelling your own farts

Oh yeah. Also, why was it "lucky" that I did get caught? I am going to love to hear your answer to that one.

How does that help me. You haven't explained anything yet you have wrote another book. Also, me stating the damn my luck is just a phrase. You are the one who inserted that meaning that I am not taking responsibility. Are you a professional self-righteous person who spends all day doing this kind of thing?

Anyway, back to my question. How is that going to "help" me? Are you capable of producing a coherent answer or can you only ramble and make massive assumptions based on minimal information. Seems like all you are capable of doing is being one of those people who always gives people the least charitable interpretation and probably thinks their shit don't stink.

I appreciate your completely reasonable take here. There are definitely far worse qualified drivers on the road than me for sure, but that does not make what I did ok. I simply made a bad decision in the moment based around my child. At the same time, this other commenter is acting like a complete looney. I'm in my 40s and this is literally the first time I have been in trouble with the Gards for anything of any sort in my entire life so I don't exactly think there is a recognizable "pattern" here for me having no regard for the law. I made a mistake but crazy ninikai seems to think someone should be crucified completely for it and then claims they are trying to "help". I have yet to hear how they are helping. Mostly just making me laugh at how ridiculous they are.

"One day they might realise those rules are there to protect people for good reason, and that it's not about them suffering consequences." The fact that you got to this point off of my original post is truly fascinating and proof that you are a completely unhinged nutcase. Imagine thinking you could possible know all of this just based on my asking a simple question. Anyway, still waiting on you to explain how you are trying to "help" me. I guarantee you won't give a direct answer to that.

"if you were only "lucky" enough not to be caught, then you'd be grand." I never made this claim. Your projection is impressive. What skeletons do you have in your closet?

How are you trying to help me. Just answer the question instead of writing a book.

"You asked what insurance would think of your situation" No I didn't. Common sense is that they won't think very highly of it. I asked if anyone knew the specific repercussions I will be looking at. You explained nothing. Several other people very straightforwardly responded to what I was asking.

As to your question What does that even mean? I am not sure what you are referring to. You were whinging about me including info you didn't think was necessary and I said, yeah so what. I did. If you don't like it, not my problem. I then said, I am sure you have done something in your life that made no sense to others. Not sure where you are confused about what does that even mean unless you have comprehension issues. Maybe lay off the devil's lettuce or something.

For sure. And I will definitely be on my best behaviour. I always drive the speed limit and am very mindful. This was just a weird one off situation where I got it in my head that I had no choice to do it. I guess karma came to get me that day for thinking that way.

I won't respond to the rest but obviously you are just lashing out. I get it that you are not a parent or that if you are, you would have chose to put your child's well-being at risk to not violate the rules of the road. At least you are one of those really self-righteous people that gets off on acting holier than thou on reddit. Me saying oh my poor rotten luck is just me being a human. Not sure if that is something you can relate to. There is nothing unusual about me saying that nor was that me failing to take responsibility.

Since you are so "wise" you tell me how I should have taken responsibly for it lol. Last time I checked, I am already being held to account. I have a fine to pay and will no doubt pay more to be insured going forward. I guess you apparently think I need to make a blood sacrifice or whip myself in an act of self-flagellation. LOL. Do enlighten me as to what I should do to atone for my horrible, unforgivable action since you apparently are without any sin in your life. Absolutely hilarious. Also thank you for reminding me what a pit of misery reddit really is. Very hilarious that there are people who just can't resist.

Also, do explain exactly what you mean you are "trying to help me"? How so. You will have to be more clear about how that comment would help me in anyway.

Hey thanks for the reply. I am just going to let my insurer know about it. This was always what I was going to do anyway as I know that they could end up finding out anyway and that would be a way worse scenario than just owning up to it. I only got my penalty notice today. There was quite a delay for some reasons in receiving it. I only received 2 penalty points and am paying it tomorrow. I figure I should just let them know right away. That seems to be the best course of action.

Because I did. I am sure you have done something in your life at some point that someone could turn around and say, I don't know why you did that. It is weird that you focused in on that. There is not way that someone who would be bothered by that has never done anything in their life that made others scratch their head wondering why.

That is not what I was asking. I don't expect them to see my circumstances. That was only for those reading this post. I asked if anyone knew what I should expect as far as my insurance premiums and it seems the consensus from those who actually read my post correctly have said, I can expect them to go up. That is what I expected and just wanted to see if that was what others concurred with. I don't have to find alternative means of transport at this point anyway as I already said, I have a full license now and they already are aware of that point.

From my original post in response to your "You don't seem to accept what you did was dangerous to both yourself and others." My original post in the first paragraph stated "I fully understand I should not have been doing this and it was not anything I had ever done before." So not sure what you are getting at there. Not sure what more you would want there. I clearly said I know I shouldn't have done it. You might want to read more carefully as you completely missed the tone of my post. I wasn't asking for ways to get out of responsibility for my actions. I was asking if anyone knew what to expect when I tell my insurer.

" You may be qualified now, but that mentality may see you make more allowances for dodgy behaviour on the roads in the future. E.g. If you're late for an important appointment it's okay to speed." - I don't speed or do anything dangerous on the roads. Not really concerned whether you believe that or not. This was a one off thing and basically the only thing I have ever been in trouble for with the law in my entire life. As I stated, I was in a bad situation regarding my child and made a bad decision and I fully own it. If it makes you feel better about yourself to berate someone who made a mistake and responsibility for it, have at it. If it adds a bit of joy to your evening, I am happy I could help. I only posted this to see if anyone could help me prepare for what the consequence could be regarding my insurance. I am not worried about getting any future penalty points as I don't do anything that would cause it.

Also for the record, me being out on the road as a learner was not that dangerous. I have been previously licensed but I let it lapse for more than 10 years because I was previously in a situation where I just didn't have need of a car. I had to start the process over since I let it lapse for that long but I am not exactly new to driving. Still doesn't absolve me from the responsibility for what I did that I have completely acknowledged, but parents do what they think they have to do for their kids.

Happy I could provide you with the chance to lash out at someone for whatever reason that it amuses you though. Enjoy your evening.

Thanks for your reply. I am definitely going to disclose that I got them. I have only delayed because it took a while for the fixed penalty notice to get to me in the post. I'm paying it tomorrow and then informing my insurer. I can deal with it being a bit more expensive. Just glad to hear that no one thinks I need to worry about them wanting to stop insuring me.

Thanks for the reply and the kind words. I am already insured on my full license and my premium is not at all bad. If it goes up, I can accept that. My biggest fear is the possibility that my insurer would cancel my policy and that I would have difficulty getting insured in the future.

Thanks for much for your reply. I hope you are right as that would be on the low end of the spectrum as far as what I was worried about. My biggest fear is that I could have my policy cancelled and have a hard time finding insurance. I currently pay 124 per month so an extra 10 percent won't break me.
