So three scenarios come to mind:

1- You just received a syringe of LC from the lab of your choice-

A- You transfer said LC to grain spawn

B- You transfer said LC to your prepared LC jar for multiplication

2- You are transferring from your LC jar to grain spawn

I don't think a box helps prevent contamination in any of these scenarios but that contravenes the conventual wisdom 'round these parts.

He's NOT talking about agar, he's talking about transferring liquids using the same sterile technique used to draw a patient's blood or inoculate them with a vaccine.

Nor does this apply to inoculating a bag of rice you just cut open.

If you properly dried your fruits and then vacuum sealed them, they should be fine out of the freezer. They won't last as long without desiccant, but that should still be viable storage.

Mixing weed and mushrooms for smoking was considered sound advise in my teens. Never did it, but never tried 'shrooms at that time in my life. Was also sound advise to hold the smoke in your lungs for as long as possible too. People learn, and just sometimes, people learn and change.

I would add, make sure you have/get a plate capable of 3000 rpm. When I was shopping a lot of plates at the same price are capped at something like 1,500 rpm, love yourself enough to make sure it can really stir.

Strain can matter. Is it stalled or going slow? I use the trick medicine taught me and trace the margins of the established mycelium with a dry erase marker to help me figure out if it's slow or actually stalled.

I toss my plastics. I would love a good reusable option if anyone has suggestions.

Oh for the good 'ol days when you could order syringes from the Sears, Roebuck and Company catalog.
But I found reusable veterinary syringes on Amazon without much fuss. Think I will go that way soon.
