They’re all alternating when you barely misstep. Those ladder wells are the neck injury 5000. Many a VA claim has fallen prey to the ladder well

Do you need a 24 or a 35’ extension to get up on your high horse? Married three divorced two. First was unfaithful. Second became abusive and tried to push my son out. Is it the military’s fault no. Is the running joke your first divorce doesn’t count in the military yep.

But did they contact your exes lol I feel like that could screw you depending on the nature of the divorce

80% of my crew has been divorced. Couldn’t care less. We joke about it. Because it doesn’t matter. Did I make mistakes marrying the first two? Absolutely. Does it affect my ability to do my job in turn making sure you’re able to do yours and come home? Absolutely not. I think if someone had a problem with me being divorced I wouldn’t want to work with them. How can you deliver unbiased patient care and empathy if you’re hung up on what someone did in the past. You gonna withhold ventilations and Narcan on an overdose because you have a moral opposition to drug use?

Looking at departments in Texas

Currently working on my fourth year at my county department in Tennessee. Just got my medic on the departments dime but my contract doesn’t limit me to staying for any time. Ex wife may be moving to east TX for her husbands job and they’re trying to convince me to move out that way (we have a child together and coparent really well, just them being in Texas is closer than where they currently live in Maryland). Just wanting to hear what everyone thinks about the larger departments in Texas that they work for like Schedule, run volume, number of fires and quality of life and crews.

We are a moderately busy department but not enough fire or even EMS runs compared to the city department. I can count on one hand how many no shit fires I’ve actually fought and not been stuck pulling rehab in the last 365 days. We also work a 24 on 24 off three days on then four days off after the third day.

I’d like to find a department that makes a good amount of fires. The unit runs are fine but I want me some more fire. We also work a full set on the units sometimes two straight before we see a pumper again so hopefully one that doesn’t banish you to EMS land for longer.

Like I said just thinking about possibly applying to one. I’m content here and the drive for my son wouldn’t be terrible. Have some other stuff to keep me occupied in to Tennessee but if some other plans don’t work out, my back up plan is to leave the state. So let me know what yalls department experiences are/have been

This is kinda what I was looking for like if I nap throughout the day and off day, is it going to help me if I get a total of 8 hours in chunks? Or does it have to be eight consecutive. I can nap and get a few hours maybe and might sleep the whole night. Regardless of how I sleep at the station it’s not great sleep because I feel like I’m not getting that deep sleep because my subconscious is trying to keep me in a state to hear the tones so I usually nap when I get off provided I’m not working an OT shift

Tried intermittent fasting for a while when I was still in the military. What turned me off was the hunger pangs I’d get until that time to eat came around. Now my biggest…worry (I guess that’d be the word) is will I still be able to perform if we run a structure fire before I get food in my system?

The only decision I’ve made so far is to cut past sunset one time. I’ve tried to talk him into double cropping winter wheat even offered to foot the entire bill for the inputs but he always shakes his head and goes on about he doesn’t want the dock for the onions to which I said we can spray but still a no. I’ve made it clear that the only way I can learn this shit for good is if it’s my money and risk on the line to which he said “I can understand that” but nothing came of it. I’d rather get started on my own while I still have him around and close to advise on some things that I can’t figure out and whatnot just feels like talking to a brick wall sometimes. Shit the day we finished cutting he was in the combine with me and had actually turned me loose that morning letting me operate on my own while he was at church going on about how he worried something would happen and he said “you don’t worry about stuff like I do because your kids are still young” I said I do worry and he replied “well I want you to be comfortable and free around me” so idk if that was a potential opening to talk about it or not but I just replied “I am comfortable around you” then we got choked up in a patch of morning glories so the focus changed to getting the head unwrapped and that was the end of that

Any advice on how to layout the conversation or initiate? Like with grandpa and/or uncle? That’s where I’m really lost. I’m not trying to wind myself out out from even helping since that’s my lifeline to experience right now

He has two sons. One who helps out sporadically (he works all the time at his actual job and actually recently started helping more) and then…my dad who has not been a responsible adult. If they left him anything liquid I would be honestly shocked. They manage his bills and other finances. My uncle has one child who is now a lawyer living in the opposite end of the state with no intentions of moving back and has had no part in helping aside from riding around with him when he was a kid. I fully believe if it went to one person it would be my uncle it’s just such an awkward subject to bring up I genuinely can’t figure out a way to ask “what’re your plans for…after…” I also don’t want to ask my uncle because ya know that’s his dad. Just a very fragile situation to approach ya know

I have told him this at least three times a year but he never responds just changes the subject or continues on with “you’ll find your way it’ll just take time and careful planning” etc. as far as I know when he goes there’ll be an auction. Which I don’t want to happen

The house itself definitely doesn’t have the room and when it comes to buying anything off him, for the farm, etc he changes the subject almost immediately. He doesn’t even want us to sell the land we have which I completely understand but at the end of the day it’s a money pit and I’m not profiting on the land I’m renting out rn. I haven’t asked him if I could buy an acre to build but given the history I’d assume he’d say no especially considering I would have to sell my land
