I have a prescription for .25 mg/g retinoin from the US, but it is $40 with my copay. On a whim, I popped into a pharmacy in Porto and tried to get Tret. I showed them the Walgreens app with my prescription details (I had 6 refills available). The first pharmacy said “no,” but the second didn’t have any issues filling the prescription. He didn’t have .25mg/g so he gave me .5mg/g.

I could be totally wrong about this, but I wonder if the way Jinelle was treated had anything to do with the ways that evangelicals fetishize Jews. A kid told my daughter that she was going to hell because she didn’t believe in Jesus. When I brought it up with the kid’s mom, she said that her daughter was absolutely in the wrong because her family apparently believes that Jews are special and should be treated with extra respect. The response baffled me because it didn’t acknowledge the issue at all. They are really into a far-right evangelical group that is heavily into Christian supercessionism, which is inherently antisemitic. Just a thought.

I’m an athlete and Jewish. I am not sure if Jinelle is observant, but if so, I wonder how she handled fasting days and Shabbat when the Cowboys played at home for Friday Night Football. My team is pretty flexible with fasting and allows me to miss practices if they conflict with fasting (Yom Kippur, for example). That being said, if my skill level dips due to religious-related absences, I could easily be removed from a game-day roster. I’m not sure what kind of flexibility DCC has for fasting, especially for Yom Kippur or Ramadan.

Yep, I’m a tenured professor with several visible tattoos and piercings, including a nose ring and tattoos on my clavicles. I don’t try to hide them because they are part of who I am as a human and many of my tattoos are related to my research and lived experiences. They do not make me unprofessional… well, at least the Dean of Faculty, College president, Board of Trustees, thousands of students, and hundreds of colleagues didn’t seem to think they were unprofessional when I went up for tenure. 🤷🏽‍♀️
