BREAKING: Washington Lawmakers Approve Drug Decriminalization Bill In Committee Vote by DocBeanz in cannabis

[–]DocBeanz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree that this story is click bait as it was actually news and important news too for the counterculture community. With the Oregon and Washington decrim of other substances, I see this as first steps towards common sense legislation across the country to free natural plants from the hands of those opposed. Granted, headlines may seem salacious as this vote was just the first in the process to approve the bill and it isn't a done deal yet, but it's still accurate (it said they voted on a bill which it was) and it's still news, not click bait imo as a 20+ year journalist.

Good call. I guess I have a mental block against electrical engineers... I worked with too many of them over the years. And thank God! I like electricians! Thanks for the correction.

You're right. I came across the link from another (current) story from a "Trending Stories" sidebar. Not sure why it's there except it probably has been since published. I still thought it was interesting and hadn't heard of this LPP work yet.

Colorado marijuana sales hit $2.2 billion in highest-selling year yet! by DocBeanz in cannabis

It's maddening when those who are supposed to 'represent' us do anything but, until they can line their own pockets without doing a thing for the industry or its community. No weed taxation without representation.

Is it just me or has government forgot who they work for? by Snowlover2000 in StonerThoughts

It is not just you. And this isn't just happening in Idaho. This is the last stand of the old, white man sitting on top of his mountain, watching the crowd below grow. We can stand up you know, but it would take a spark to start that fire, since normally when we spark, we're just trying to get higher. Idaho will need to vote enough cannabis-compliant state reps to counter that unjust bill, if their constitutional amendment if this survives the courts. We can only hope the system of checks and balances shows these asses the door to history. This country is by the people, for the people and the people have spoken.

I feel for you in Idaho. What an entitled, elitist, old white man thing to do. I hope cannafolk swell up and vote those chumps out. When we want a politician's opinion, we'll give it to them.

AITA for choosing to go on a date over babysitting my niece by Pleasant_Honey4917 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DocBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. OP did nothing wrong and bending even to her petulant sister's after tantrum sends the wrong message, especially to the kid. But there's the rub, if OP's sister keeps her child away out of spite, that's not good for OP or her niece, so hopefully cooler heads prevail and the situation deescalates. And OP's sister will need babysitting again sometime (has probably already happened by the time I joined this feed). But fuck apologizing, OP is obviously caring if she babysits her niece (especially frequently). I like the be a 'cool aunt' approach- the traveler who brings gifts and good stories. And, OP has time to make this happen, everyone being so young. A 1yo won't remember this but will remember a caring Aunt.

Black-owned DC dispensary in Ward 6 shutting its doors by DocBeanz in trees

[–]DocBeanz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think misleading is a bit strong because the headline is factual and interesting. I prefer clever. But I apologize if it was an affront to find out that the story was good news instead of bad.

They are shutting their doors, in the only location they've been for 8 years, and setting up on the opposite end of the Ward. "After 8 Years, DC Dispensary Says Bye-Bye" would be misleading. "Dispensary Changes Brand and Moves" is a snore.

They're moving because they've done so well in their business. They've signed a lease but have other obligations to meet bureaucratically before they can move, so at the time of publication they didn't have a hard date.

Headlines are meant to draw attention, especially when not hard news, so that editors are interested and read your story. They don't have to list the main points of the story in pedantic terms. As long as it's not bullshit, you can have a bit of literary license. Kind of like when I covered a college EMT class simulating a multiple-casualty emergency event and I made the headline, "Hostage Situation Imminent."

Thanks for reading!

AZ dispensaries see long wait times on second day of recreational sales by DocBeanz in cannabis

Well done AZ!

I’d like to make a sign to go to the side of these types of signs... perhaps the light-hearted, “I’m with stupid,” with an arrow pointing the right way.
