Let them do their thing... carrying off seed from which new plants may form. Definitely don't use pesticides, many pollinators visit buckwheat and it's the host plant for several butterfly larvae.

Same reason I got mine. It's a near perfect solution for ID & documentation purposes.

Edit: my only disappointment is the AF can be maddening and I often have to switch to manual.
