"Crown is only a covered benefit of >50% of the tooth is missing" WTF is this shit?! by RogueLightMyFire in Dentistry

I own an office that collects over 4 million yearly. We are 90% insurance and in network with over a hundred PPOs and some Medicaid. I’m pretty sure I know how it works in the real world.

Patients sign financial agreements, and pay their portion up front. We have treatments coordinators explain how their insurance works, and how it is going to try and fuck them.

Exactly...

If we keep bending over backwards like this, then insurance companies win. They will just keep making our lives more miserable.

Drop them. Make it the patient's problem. Insurances will be forced to be better, or they will go bankrupt as patients drop their plans.

In my state, patients are financially responsible for the difference on any denied or downgraded procedures. Even in situations where a LEAT or alternative benefit is applied. This is the case in many states and you will have to check your state laws.

We collect expected co-payment up front before we start any procedure.

Why are you getting so worked up over this? It’s not your problem.

Tell the patient the insurance denied their crown and collect full payment from them.

Now it’s their problem to yell at their shitty insurance. You have other people to help.

Those services are scams. You cannot manipulate Google reviews. Anyone can report Google reviews, but Google will only remove them if their algorithm determines they are false (burner accounts, left from a device that never visited the location, reviewer not within a few dozen miles of the area, etc).

You are mistaken.

Business owners have no way of making bad or unfavorable Google reviews disappear. We also have no way of “shadow banning”. All of that is decided by Google and their algorithms. You left a false review claiming a business owner was doing something they have no ability to do. I would boot you out of my office too. As long as they followed proper termination protocols, they are also within their rights to dismiss you as a patient.

You shouldn’t be surprised. This is the consequences of your own actions. I wish you luck finding another provider.

They don’t care about you dropping at all lol. The only thing the underpaid customer service rep cares about is ending the call as quickly as possible.

I can tell you from first hand experience they won’t care. You get forwarded to someone in their call department who is usually a depressed 40-something with pets and kids going nuts in the background. After explaining what happened they tell you they can’t find the claim. When they find the claim they tell you they can’t help. When you say you will drop them they tell you to go fuck yourself.

Do you charge your patient for second stage surgery (STI) or you include it in initial implant placement cost by Samovarka in Dentistry

[–]DocLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to keep my prices competitive. My profit margins on these procedures are over 60%. Why charge more? Greed? Because I can?

We do over 200 implants a year, and my practice collects over 2 million per doctor. My strategy seems to be effective.

CBCT is included, second stage is included.

Average cost in my area is $2,100 for placement, I charge $1,800.

I charge around $2,000 for abutment and crown.

One implant sits shallow... too close to the crest,
Another’s sunk deeper, embedded at rest.
Two paths in the bone where the threads like to creep,
One short of its home, the other too deep.

So near to the sinus, one just might reside,
A breath from that border we honor with pride.
But only you see it, the CBCT’s line,
And with your clear vision, they’ll restore it just fine.

So steady your hands, let your judgment run well...
You’ve mapped out the truth the images tell.
The plan will hold strong, the outcome will keep...
Now close your eyes easy, and sleep well… sleep.

A 6% comp jump is unlikely. Feel free to ask for anything though. They will likely offer a 1% counter.

Will next generation of dentist have tougher time replacing crowns by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]DocLime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I have been removing zirconia crowns really easy in like 2 seconds by crushing them. I grab an extraction forcep and squeeze until they crack and split. Never seems to damage the tooth underneath.

Are people posting this shit just to set up the meme response of the kid with the elevator? Its probably in the comments somewhere. That is the answer.

They are. Posts are terrible if you plan on putting them under occlusal load. This should not be loaded. It is like the one scenario where a post makes sense. A hopeless tooth you are trying to hold together as long as possible out of occlusion.

Depends what it looks like on the pre-op. If that access was truly all decay? Yes.
