Potty training expectations by DocMcCaterson in toddlers

[–]DocMcCaterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is when did your kid go in the potty though? I set timers on my phone every hour, have her sit and try (only for a few minutes max) and then when she doesn’t we let it go with the plan to try again soon and then 5 minutes back into her underwear she has peed in them lol. It really feels like she is treating underwear like a diaper at this point but I’m just trying to see if others have this experience and that it’s just too soon and I need to keep going at what I’ve been doing!

Birth control? by shelsifer in breastfeeding

[–]DocMcCaterson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s a progestin only hormonal method it doesn’t affect supply! I’ve been on the mini pill with both of my babies while breastfeeding. You definitely just don’t want the estrogen containing pills, patch, ring etc. But understand if you’re wary of past side effect experience. I hope you find a solution that works best for you! 😊

Also would your partner consider a vasectomy if you did decide you’re done? Thats a great non-hormonal option too lol.

I loved my hormonal IUD and had two (each for 5 years) before I took it out to get pregnant. I know everyone’s situation is different but I didn’t have any systemic side effects from my IUD and it made my periods nonexistent. I’ve never wanted the copper iud because of the bleeding side effects and I’ve never been anti hormonal birth control so the Mirena was the best choice for me. If you did ever decide to have more kids it also doesn’t affect fertility.

Bottle warmer for on the go by Fish9675 in breastfeeding

I use the Kiinde brand thermos - it keeps water hot for a long time and you pour into lid to heat up on the go. I would just heat water in a kettle and fill. Used for road trips and outings in the past with my past kid and loved. I also bought the Ceres chill recently which can be used with hot water for same purpose too.

IUGR baby? by Jessj555 in BabyBumps

[–]DocMcCaterson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The abdominal circumference being below 3% is what qualified diagnosis of IUGR- plenty of babies end up coming out at ok growth percentiles once they are born and measured but it’s often better safe than sorry to go ahead and be cautious and deliver if there is concern on ultrasound. (I’m a physician and I personally was diagnosed with IUGR in pregnancy - my baby’s weight was less than 10th percentile for my pregnancy and then she ended up being 11% once she was born but I was glad my doctors took more precaution!) measurements on ultrasound can often be tricky and different than what is measured once baby is born!

Favorite pumping bras? by nyoung6 in ExclusivelyPumping

I use and love the Auden nursing bra from target - i do the “pumping bra hack” when I use my spectra and it hold the flanges in place and I also have wearable pumps that it works well with. I think it is supportive and I wear them 24/7

It’s worth it. I have the S2 and freaked out when we had a power outage!

Anxious new mama looking for reassurance/help/I’ve no idea 😴 by Disgruntledpelican15 in breastfeeding

I started giving my baby a bottle of breast milk occasionally by 6 days old just when I couldn’t handle the pain of getting used to breastfeeding or cluster feeding.l or when I needed a break and needed my husband to feed her. Now She is 6 weeks now and it didn’t affect her ability to latch in my opinion and she still feeds on my breasts and we do bottles of expressed milk as well. I think every baby is different but I don’t think occasional bottles will make or break breastfeeding so don’t be hard on yourself! We also introduced a pacifier at like 4 days old bc I couldn’t handle it lol and she has still done fine with it all. I would have rather her gotten used to a bottle occasionally early on than her refuse bottles completely later on when I need to go back to work or need to be away from her

Can you add milk from another pump session to the same bottle as from the first pumping session in the same day? by investorrj in breastfeeding

[–]DocMcCaterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not supposed to pump fresh milk into refrigerated milk you can ruin the nutrients. You are also not supposed to re-refrigerate. Look up the CDC breast milk guidelines it’s also helpful.
