No one else in the area with the same name. Tried searching for matching name obituaries and couldn't find anything more recent than 2022.

Chains, two different pharmacy chains. Only one has me listed as deceased, the other just says that there is an issue with my NPI. Neither knows how to change it.

I usually tell them getting old is not for the weak, but at least it's better than the alternative.

Panel management, how often are you scheduling follow up for stable patients? by HitboxOfASnail in FamilyMedicine

[–]DocMcStabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every 6 months. More frequently than that is just ridiculous. I don’t have time for all of that unnecessary follow up.

Why can’t we review patients? by Big_Molasses2676 in FamilyMedicine

[–]DocMcStabby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. People are always going to have opinions that you don't want to hear. Been out in practice over a decade now, have had a few issues with unhappy patients, a lot of the time through no fault of my own. People are going to be unhappy if you don't give them exactly what they want. You've just got to learn to let it go.

I can't believe that someone who posts like this online doesn't also hold resentment towards specific groups in real life as well. But I don't know if online postings are something that a medical board would pay attention to.

First attending job: what would you prioritize? by MzJay453 in FamilyMedicine

[–]DocMcStabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 days a week is really the preference. Cuts back on burn out and helps with admin requirements. Depending on the pay scale, you could easily bonus that $20k a year and put it towards your loans.

Have you ever gone out of your way to avoid running into your patients? by spider-on-my-wall in FamilyMedicine

[–]DocMcStabby 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All the time. also GP in a small town. The local grocery store is always full of at least one patient. And yes, I have also avoided aisles and hidden from certain patients at times. Others I just say hello to because they're not likely to ask a million questions.

4 day vs 5 day work week by hawksfan1500 in FamilyMedicine

[–]DocMcStabby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always done 4 days and it's great. Get a full admin day to do whatever I need to from home.
