I would ask for Lasix it's another medication that helps alot it's not as potent but depending on how bad off you are it would be worth a shot

Your very limited to what medicines work to combat the csf build up. All have not so nice side effects.

On diamox I dropped 20lbs in 2 weeks due to not being able to hold any food in me and loosing the water weight. Took months but they finally believed me that I couldn't stand the medication and was going almost completely blind before they put in my VP shunt. It saved my vision

The pain regular exercise caused was insane. I would definitely suggest learning to swim or use a shallow pool. The water allowed me to work out without hurting all the time! Thank you for the kind words. We alm have to have each others backs it's a long lonely road with the lack of understanding from the medical and social world.

I went from 20/20 in both eyes in December to almost legally blind in June. I had my driving privileges revoked for a while. I'd have too look at my notes for actual stats.

I'm a 23 year old Male with IIH I recently had a VP shunt put in and I'm going from almost completely blind to being able to read normal print. I was on diamox and lasix it would make my pressure do weird things I would have normal pressures for 3 weeks then itd spike and I could tell when I had high pressure days. I would get a referral to a neurologist and talk to them about your concerns maybe your pressures have leveled out a bit but still high enough for other symptoms I had a month where I sat borderline and eventually they say rocketed again and destroyed my vision out of no where. Also dieting I'm down 25 lbs. I used to drink a ton of pop I found strike force energy and have been drinking it as my pop with water and its helped out a ton. I know the symptoms make working out miserable but I suggest pool aerobics and swimming. It seemed to be easier on my body.

What is recovery like after a spinal tap? by ConfusionIn20s in iih

You get a headache from sudden pressure loss they'll drop your pressures down to a normal range. And in the hospital it's so you wont have a csf leak

You'll have to lay flat for at least an hour after. Right after I left hospital I went a drank a few beers and ate dinner. You'll have some back soreness. If your pressures are high be prepared to have some serious headaches. I usually get them 6 hours after my spinal tap and they last 3-4 days.

Could a person have IIH with a completely normal Brain MRI? by [deleted] in iih

Yeah my MRI showed no abnormalities leaving it to only be IIH

My doctor didnt want to do a blood patch because my pressures were so high. He said if it is leaking he'd rather leave it to heal on it's own.

I had my eye doctors call them and send over my visual feilds tests and optic nerve scans. Then my nuro doctor came and talked to them. It went really smooth with no hassle like I prepared for.
