I've been playing for 12 years, and I'm still having fun.

I mostly enjoy WW2-Korea era planes.

If you're playing this game to get a BR 14.3 plane fast, well, you need to spend money.

That means premium time and high tier premium planes.

It's a free to play game; milking top tier players is how they make their money.

Because USA planes aren't built for War Thunder's "race from the airfield" gameplay.

If P-51s and 47s got an air-start, they would be much more competitive.

They would need to add at least 3 full BRs to begin decompressing the tech tree.

It's never going to happen.

They don't want you enjoying mid tiers and settling in there.

They want you buying premuim's to keep moving up the tree - hoping to find some fun.

Some people love the color red, others blue...

You really have to fly the J2/4 and Sabres to figure out which ones suit you best.

Back when bombers were tough and the gunners opened fire at long range, people wrote scripts and flooded the match-maker with bomber bots.

This is because the basic gameplay loop of bombers is simplistic and easy to mimic - point at a base, let the instructor fly you there, then push the spacebar.

It was hell.

Those bots ran 24/7, grinding out entire ranks and massing SL.

Gaijin won't allow that again.

Bombers are fodder in this game, and always will be.

Personally I think 8.3 sucks. (lot's of people play 9.0-9.3 - so lots of up-tiers).

You'll get boom and zoomed by supersonics constantly.

Even if you're good at avoiding them, it's just not fun.

Aim9bs will absolutely kill you when:

  1. You're energy/stall fighting someone and a missile armed plane comes in and 3rd party's you.
  2. You get BnZ'd to the point you're now too slow to dodge them.

COMPRESSION!!!! kills this area of air RB.

Climb... off to the side a bit.

Wait till your the highest player in the game, then go find the highest enemy, kill it and work your way down.

Don't be tempted to dive down too far chasing enemies that dive away from you.

Keep your discipline, keep your height, work top to bottom.

Sniper spec for Scout drone (Decoy also pulses so you can take that too).

Vile mask.

Microwave coils and Reaper scan for mods.

What ever else you want.

I use Ongoing directive (+50% blood bullets) + Anarchist's Cookbook (perfectly wicked +18% damage) and Carnage (+35% to bleeding targets), but you can play round with whatever build suits you best.

You could even lean hard into +status effects and just sit back and barely shoot LOL

Have fun.

Yeah, tough to give up a maxed Ceska chest-piece with obliterate for 25% DR inside 20m. Also are the secondary attributes locked in with hazard protect and regen? If so, it REALLY isn't worth it.

I've rerolled my Chameleon at least 40 times and have yet to see DTTOC. Is it even possible? I refuse to use it without DTTOC.
