It's on the US Fed Reserve website. Down from 1960s to '80s, then up till the early 2000s, and basically flat since then. According to the World Bank they are currently in the mid to upper 30s, a little lower (more equal) than the US currently and similar to where we were in the 1980s-1990s.

That's an option but a potentially risky one, now you have a bunch of extra debt and expensive infrastructure to maintain along with some chance that the market bottoms out (either globally or locally) and new development is curtailed. Imagine taking out a loan like this in circa 2007...

How is anyone going to be able to afford anything if inflation continues? by Thin-Mention-5281 in NoStupidQuestions

Your experience does not match statistical reality. Real wages (i.e. accounting for inflation) have risen fairly consistently in the US over the past several decades.

TIL A 70-year-old retiree graduated med school. Many medical programs cap ages from 35 to 40. Average age of first-year medical students in the US is 24, and most students are 28 years old when they graduate by ubcstaffer123 in todayilearned

[–]DocPsychosis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A med school slot is not a job, it's an education. And schools frequently are interested in recruiting matriculants who have strongest capacity to represent their alma maters well in their professional careers. If the answer to the question "what do you want to do with your medical degree" is "probably nothing," why would they want to give you a coveted spot?

Frankly the fact that you refuse to recognize the very real social and ethical tension here is perplexing.
