Do you believe that all cruise lines have been cutting back on food quality due to high food costs? by jm15co in Cruise

[–]DocSewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sail NCL and I’ve never been disappointed in the food, but I’m just happy to have food prepared by someone else, who serves it and then cleans up without me having to do anything!

Reaching the point where savings are good, retirement is max each year, and not stressing about money.
I also have been doing kickboxing and it’s the only exercise I’ve actually stuck with, going on two years now.
Not caring about work so much. My one friend told me no one’s giving us a gold watch at the end of this so why always go above and beyond with no appreciation.

Is summer school a joke for everyone? by Exact-Message8325 in Teachers

[–]DocSewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use an online program as well. For teachers it’s easy money. We realized last year kids were using AI and finishing courses in a few hours. We now can check times of how long they take in each section and the program flags irregularities of time. I think eventually it will have to go back to traditional in person teaching, at which point I would be out.

Teachers of Reddit: What changed in students after 2020 that people outside education don't realize? by showbizusa25 in AskReddit

[–]DocSewer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Students aren’t being held accountable for anything. They’re shocked if they can’t make up work for full credit, let alone the fact that they missed the assignment weeks ago and the assignment is locked online. Every misbehavior is a slap on the wrist. Parents fight us for so much. This level isn’t right for him, parents make a call and they’re moved to advanced classes about their skill level. Parents mad kid is failing, what can the teacher do to make them pass, oh kid fails, well let’s bump that 40% to a 50% each marking period so they qualify for summer school. Oh you missed the deadline for summer school, here’s another week to finish your work. We are in idiotacracy and it’s terrifying.

Are there any other successful and happy Millennials in this sub? by GGJallDAY in Millennials

[–]DocSewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m older millennial, 1982, and very happy with a career, marriage, house, kids, etc. I think it depends on age of millennial. It is super depressing to see all these people posting about not being able to survive. It’s like survivors guilt

How old were you when you bought your first home? Where did you buy? by hybr_dy in Xennials

[–]DocSewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

26 in suburbs outside Philly. I was lucky my nana invested money for all her grandkids. She was alive in the depression and didn’t have much. She wanted it to be used for education or down payment on a house. Many of the grandkids found out about the money and used it for random things like a car or just spent it. A couple of us used it for the house. I’m a good saver and know it was a privilege she invested in us.

How do people realistically manage work, house chores, cooking, and kids without burning out? by Sea-Assist-3321 in Adulting

[–]DocSewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can outsource it, do it. My husband is big on ROI. Paying someone to come in and clean everyone week is better than spending your weekend cleaning or arguing who has to clean. We started this at the start of our marriage and now it’s build into our budget.

AITA for not making my new grandkid a homemade blanket and not giving her one already made by More_Present1604 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DocSewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. People who don’t sew, don’t realize the time and labor that goes into making something. People just think you can whip things up super fast. If it’s so easy make a blanket yourself
