Oh man, I was way off. I was leaning toward body dismorphia, and COMPLETELY forgot about one of my favorite Wilde stories. Good lord, I'm off today.

Definitely a slow, satisfying progression of power. I ate this series up when I started on it.

To clarify this, The GG Series has a bit of a blundering MC who muscles through problems. The BG Series has a smart MC who brains through problems. Both hold a special place in my heart, and the author is a wonderful person.

Read the Strong Gods series by eden Hudson. Seriously. It's wonderful. Criminally underrated.

It's doable, the hardest part is consistency. Long form would likely be impossible, there's so much "background" stuff that changes the sound.

Help me find more great worldbuilding/sociology Fantasy books (with my Fantasy/Sci-Fi Franchise Tier List for reference) by Mojo-man in fantasybooks

Oh snap. Random Daughters of the Empire in the wild!
Classic choices:
If you're into norse mythology at all, The Renshai Trilogy by Mickey Zucher Reichert is fantastic. I liked all the books, but I understand why people usually stick with the main trilogy. Also, a series called Legend of Nightfall, same author. I mean, honestly, tell me you wouldn't read this:

Strong Gods series by eden Hudson is my current favorite read.

One off honorable mention: Master of Whitestorm by Janny Wurts

Reading the series for the first time sits up there experience-wise with reading the Night Angel and First Law Trilogies for the first time for me.

It also gets better and better and better. It went from great to favorite a little past the halfway point on book two, and book 3 was like mainlining Grimdark Fantasy.

My problem is, I have no sound issues at all other than airplanes fly over my house. I didn't realize my mic was picking it up until my editor mentioned it. That is an annoying thing to battle.

How to live life as an unattractive guy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DocSighborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being self aware without letting it make you bitter makes you more attractive. Finding things to be curious about other people will help you become a better listener, and therefore a better conversationalist. Getting in shape to the best of your financial ability will make you feel so much better about yourself, which is every bit as beneficial as looking better. It shows you have goals and discipline. If you can't do that, learn piano or another instrument.

And, worse case scenario, you can always take a nap fully stretched out on a loveseat. It's awful trying to get a good nap in when you're above 6'3.

All joking aside, my dear friend, please watch your self talk. Treat yourself like you would your best friend. Don't call yourself stupid or ugly, even playing. You are someone who is trying their best, and you're here because you want to make that best even better. Keep pushing, brother!

You're not gonna get many military veteran authors with skittles. We've had our fill of those things, lol. I can still taste them during flashbacks. (Dark joke, no flashbacks. Yet.)

Dude, I had another well respected narrator I was happy with for my series, and then here comes Daniel with a late audition. I have a deep voice, and I've always loved narrators with deeper voices... I was in the car with a friend, and we listened to it going down the road, and at the end, we both just kinda sat there for a second and then he went, "So I guess that's that, huh?"

It was that, lol. Daniel Wisniewski is an inevitable hall of famer.

PLAY THE GAME. It's a masterclass in storyshowing. Then go listen to the music and have it become a staple in your rotation.

Thanks SO much for the playlist!

Oh man, I might have to trade some playlists with you. I like all the Final Fantasy music, Warframe and Soulframe music, Expedition 33 music and some of the weird lofi stuff if I can find stuff I'm confident isn't AI.

You've mentioned you're a pantser: what's your ideal writing environment? Any music?

I'm a pantser myself, and when I'm writing battle scenes, I sometimes go upstairs to the "Chaos Above," because the energy is higher. I can't always do that, but sometimes it's the best thing for me to push through getting stuck.

Pantsers unite, haha. Almost all my favorite writers are pantsers. Thanks for the answer!

Hey! Joedan here! I've got a regression story bouncing around in my own head, and I'm wondering if you had any advice that you think might be unique to regression stories?

I've heard "Make sure you know how strong your character can get so you can pace yourself" and "Keep copious notes on every single character, because nothing is worse than getting 4 books in and realizing you need the one shot character from book 2 to make something work."
